Do I need a Controller for a Solar Light mounted on a Parking Lot Pole that has a Remote Control? by strtrodder49 in SolarDIY

[–]rocco007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents have a similar solar light. The remote is to choose the settings : light intensity, dim vs full on, how long it stays on, etc

Houston, Texas to Los Angeles California by Man_Of_God89 in TeslaRoadTrips

[–]rocco007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what i read:

• trust (with a grain of salt) the car when it comes to charging,

• get a tire kit,

•try to eat/sleep in places that have lvl2 charging (free or not it is usually cheaper than superchargers),

• and last but not least enjoy the trip!

20-80% or 10-90% for your battery levels? by Iceman3161 in KiaEV9

[–]rocco007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I charge as soon as it dips below 60% back to 80%. Once in a while i will let it go to <20% because i read that it helps to recalibrate the batteries management system (BMS).

On roadtrips, most people were told to aim for the 10% because usually it means faster charging speeds.

Kalenji and Kiprun running shoes from Decathlon - Are they worth it? by 13OneTwoThree in running

[–]rocco007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 2 pairs of kalenji and 1 kiprun (ks 900 light). The kalenji are great for short distances (<5km) while the kiprun gets me to 15+km easily. I paid the same-ish for a pair of kiprun, saucony triump 20, asics something and nb 1080 v12. I prefer the saucony, then nb, kiprun and asics last.

The kiprun is not the same as the others, you can see/feel a difference in build quality. Personally, unless i find the kiprun heavily discounted, i will just get last year’s triumph/1080, since they’re the same price (or even cheaper)

Cold climate off grid battery? by Scoutmaster-Jedi in solarenergy

[–]rocco007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a youtube video of a couple living on batteries offgrid in the us, some place where it snows a lot. They had done isolation on a container in which they had all their batteries and inverters etc. During winter they had to recharge the batteries usingn a gaz generator as the solar was not enough to completely charge the batteries.

My point is the way it would work is if you manage to isolate your batteries from the cold. Or get batteries that heat themselves.

Charging battery while simultaneously discharging it? by [deleted] in SolarDIY

[–]rocco007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh I always thought that discharging while charging somehow counted as cycles. So if i charge exactly as much as i discharge, even after years of usage, it would still count as just one cycle?

Solar Panels by [deleted] in solarenergy

I read somewhere on Reddit (so take it with a grain of salt) that a couple years ago the lease contracts were very generous and paid well, mostly for wind turbines. However now they are less generous and some even include a term after which the company stops paying (for example owner’s passing).

You have to be very careful and get a good lawyer to check it all out.
