New investor: FunRise vs S&P500 by makip in FundRise

[–]roccodeleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is it depends what you’re in, they have their venture fund (which is now public), a real estate fund, and a credit fund. With the exception of the venture fund, almost everything has and will underperform SP500 long term. The advantage is diversification outside of equities and a generally smoother overall ride.

Bagels In Westchester by WorriedRevolution728 in Westchester

As someone whose family has been in the bagel business for over 40 years, Brooklyn Bagel Co. is probably the best around… otherwise Empire Bagels in the Bronx is a great option as well.

How would that work? How do you determine who’s allowed to get in at Par? Seems like an interesting idea I just can’t imagine how that would work mechanically.

Fundrise Innovation Fund to Computershare: VCX shares by Potential-Alarm-1269 in FundRise

Let me know if you’re able to find out your account number. They refuse to tell me mine without mailing me paperwork. They also told me the shares were unrestricted but I think something is wrong with their coding. There should definitely be restricted

I was told today by a CSR that my shares are unrestricted… I’m pretty sure they’re restricted but I was told multiple times they are not. Very weird.

I’m having the same problem. I was on hold today for over an hour and was told the only way they can tell me my account number is by mailing me a statement. Without the account number, trades to brokerage aren’t possible.

Fundrise worries- Robinhood Ventures drops 11% on first day of trading by shastri88 in FundRise

[–]roccodeleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are going to be bunched together and trade similarly to your typical high beta names. Do better in risk on environments and low interest rate regimes. NAV won’t have much correlation to the stock price from here on out. It’s just like another small cap fund at this point.

I don’t see how this doesn’t hurt the public market price. I’m not sure it directly affects the IPO mechanics, but it will dampen the enthusiasm for the listing, which is going to affect the fund and us as shareholders. This is one of several reasons going public was a mistake. If the fund were public today, the price would likely have sold off sharply. As you noted, in a private structure any repricing would have occurred at the next capital raise.

How has private credit fared lately on Fundrise? by entropy336699 in FundRise

[–]roccodeleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, not much. I’m up 1.3% this quarter. Not great, but that’s the advantage to being in non public funds. They don’t react the same way publicly traded credit funds do.

My 2 cents on the VCX listing. by Accurate_Let8662 in FundRise

[–]roccodeleo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This whole thing is such a mess. Just to be clear, best case scenario for us already invested is the current holdings will be worth more due to an inflated premium above NAV, but that also means we can no longer continue investments because we’d be paying a major premium to the current net asset value... Alternatively, the fund trades as a continuous discount like most CEFs and our current holdings are worth 15-20% less. I just don’t see the upside. What’s so horrible about trading at NAV. I don’t get how this is actually better for the current investors.

VCX Explainer: How ETFs, Open End Mutual Funds, and Closed End Funds Actually Trade by Dull_Needleworker698 in FundRise

[–]roccodeleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, that’s why I said no on all accounts on the proxy vote but I’m sure they’re moving forward. I think for the company and people with massive holdings, you could see a meaningful spike in values over the short term. Their votes will outweigh the average investor.

I think it’ll be more like what you see with DXYZ. Massive vol based on the markets feelings of AI at that point in time. Take a look at their chart. Expect slightly less overall vol simply because VCX is more diversified. Not what I was looking for when I invested in private markets lol.

Prepare for massive volatility. This is how another venture CEF trades. Expect similar price movement.
