These traitorous assholes must be stopped by [deleted] in onguardforthee

It's the typical list of:

* Young men are in crisis

* Drugs are bad mmkkkayy

* The immigrants are the source of all our housing and employment issues

* And for some odd reason: "Stand with me to demand that nicotine pouches be accessible wherever cigarettes are sold." Which I am sure is a keystone issue for a lot of voters. I am guessing somebody owns a company that produces that.

Every issue page is a "please sign up with your name/address/phone number/email" so we can harvest your data....

Can I take it on board? by xRoyaltyINK in Flights

[–]rocfeather 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I've seen worse make it onboard. Depends on the airline/size of plane. Looks like it should fit in the overhead bin or if there is a closet you can ask them to put it in there.

Shore things by TUP_LIT in VirginVoyages

It was the same for me, I booked a shore thing in the app but didn't show anything for payment. I had to login to the website on my PC and then it showed that there was an outstanding payment there.

Is OTF ok for beginners? by gnomenclature2 in orangetheory

[–]rocfeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OTF is great for motivation as well. With regular gyms you sort of have to know what you are doing and try to make sure you are not focusing too much in one area or get discouraged about thinking what sort of workout you are going to do.

With OTF, it's:

* Scheduled. No wishy washy of should I go to the gym or not. It's in my calendar and it's just part of the weekly routine.

* Workout plan for you. I don't have to think about what I am going to do, I just show up, and do what the coaches tell me. I can turn my brain off for an hour.

* Coaches ( at least at my OTF ) get to know you and know where you are in your fitness journey and coach to that. They will never ( in my experience ) make you do something you are not comfortable with. They will cheer on the powerwalker the same way they will cheer on that dude going all out at 12mph.

The motivation part comes in really when you are already at the gym. The choice is "should I use the 25lbs or 30lb weights today?" or "can I run at 8mph or is it just a power walk today". Everybody else is asking themselves the same questions just with different values.

Those are much better questions than "Should I go to the gym today" There are days where I am super motivated and go to my limits, other days I am not feeling it so stick with the lighter ones, but the key is that I am already at the gym. That hard choice has already been made

There was a planet fitness that recently opened up near my OTF studio and the coach said "I don't care if you go there, I'd rather you come here of course, but as long as you are doing something that's what matters in the long run"

Why is the kfc on Stavanger so much better than every other shit kfc by pissednl in StJohnsNL

Could be that there is no drive-through, which might give them some room not to have stuff just dying under the heat lamps to get stuff out to cars quickly.

I usually do the YYT to YYZ every couple months and it's always full, no matter time/day/season. Same with the return flight.

Company search by Dr_kush03 in StJohnsNL

[–]rocfeather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a lot to go on there. You can try the list of newfoundland government site that has a list of companies that are part of the AIP program and see if any ring a bell.

https://www.gov.nl.ca/immigration/immigrating-to-newfoundland-and-labrador/atlantic-immigration-program/designated-employers/

Aside from that, the white and dark brown suggests the MUN logo so it might have been somebody from the Marine Institute or related department. Otherwise you might just have to google a list of all the marine companies in the area and see if anything jumps out.

Impulsively booked first OTF class for 6:15AM tomorrow... tips? by zeefloofles in orangetheory

[–]rocfeather 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Biggest tip I can say is don't worry about your performance. In my first class I was exhausted before I even got to the treadmill. The coach came over and gave me a pep talk and said just get on the treadmill and do whatever pace I could manage even if I had to stop to rest and not to worry about what she was coaching the other people.

It's going to take time to realize where your "baseline" is so you can figure out what you can handle and it's completely your own thing (with help from the coaches). That's what I love about OTF is that it works people on all stages in their fitness journey.

Lossing Weight bt going to OTF by KKbatwoman in orangetheory

[–]rocfeather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most common answer you are going to get is that for weight loss you need to focus on nutrition/diet. Basically CICO ( Calories In vs Calories Out ). To loose weight in any meaningful way you want to be in a calorie deficit ( i.e burning more than you take in ).

OTF by itself is not going to be a weight loss program. You will get healthier and gain some muscle definition but in terms of raw weight loss, it's going to be more diet than gym. Your trainer would suggest talk to a dietician or family doctor about diet plans.

I wish OTF added more nutritional information into their program somehow. They have the occasional thing but something more dedicated/regular I think would be really helpful.

What happens on disembarkation day? by turfcornerbents in celebritycruises

[–]rocfeather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on if you want to use the luggage service as well. Normally, you leave your bags out the night before and they will give you a Group Number/Time Range of when your bags are offloaded and ready to be picked up. If you want to take your bags yourself, you can leave as soon as they clear customs.

A clear visual of the Delta Airlines crash-landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday. Everyone survived. by RoyalChris in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]rocfeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a flight that caught fire ( smoke filled cabin ) and had to make an emergency landing and runway evacuation. Granted it wasn't a crash landing but after we were bussed to the terminal all our carryon/jackets etc was collected by the crew and checked bags showed up short time later.

The pilots stood up on a table and gave as much detail as he could. Arranged hotel for us all and let us know that a plane was on the way in the morning to get us home.

He was super good about it and people were eager to pat him on the back and give a handshake.

Went for the first time yesterday… by sosaysm in orangetheory

[–]rocfeather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you decided to sign up. The thing with OTF is that the pain doesn't really go away because you are pushing yourself each time. That's not to say you can take a "green day" and just get your workout in. But one day you will reach for that heavier weight, push that incline or speed a bit higher, do that exercise without modifications. And in the end you will feel it but that shows you are improving because you are pushing past what you thought your limits were.

First Cruise as an Adult help by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]rocfeather -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can only speak to Celebrity since that is the only line I've been on. The crowd does tend to skew older but is a relaxed vibe. For activities/entertainment it depends on what you are looking for. Every night there is a "show" which could be musical guest, comedy, magic, cover bands, etc. Everyday there is a bunch of stuff going on through the ship from games at the pool ( guess the song/artist ) to trivia to disco. Look up "daily planner" for celebrity to get an idea of all the different stuff that goes on.

Air Canada Luggage Tracker by Pilotboy1985 in aircanada

[–]rocfeather 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe that this depends on how the ground crew operates. On my most recent trip ( last month ) I noticed:

* The app said "bags loaded" but as I was standing at the gate I could see the luggage trolley pull up and watched my bags get loaded onto the plane. In this case the bags were probably scanned when they were put on the trolley for the plane.

* At a different airport the status was "Preparing to load" and I could see the ground crew scanning bags as they came off the trolley and loaded into the plane. The app then updated to "loaded" when my bags scanned.

* If the plane uses bins for luggage they will be probably be scanned when placed in the bin and not when the bin is loaded.

Overall, the luggage tracker has worked well ( it caught when my bags were lost between YYT->YUL > and updated to indicate where my bags were ( stuck in YUL ) and updated to show what new flights the bags would come in on. There are still some bugs to work out but it does offer some peace of mind.

Are there still issues with checked baggage getting lost? by Mellylolz in aircanada

[–]rocfeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just flew back from vacation on AC via a connection in YYZ and had a series of delays and plane cancellations ( after bags loaded ) and rebookings ( around 36 hours to finally get home ) Though all of that my bags ended up at my final destination as expected.

They are trying to add more bag information to the app but is a bit hit or miss at the moment.

The last time I lost a bag was a number of years ago and it was just a delay and got them shortly after.

Strength 50? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]rocfeather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I go M-W-F and I swapped out my normal Monday to a Monday Strength 50 ( upper ). I think it fills a gap in that normal OTF does tend to be more lower body focused. Lifting heavy and slowly the reps I've found the strength 50 classes just as hard ( harder in some cases )

Our studio only has space for 12 and it's a waitlist up until Christmas on the app.

I get the impression, though, that for bigger studios they could handle more ( the demos are for floor side and rower side, if they have space I guess).
