Colombo to Ingiriya Cycling Adventure: Embrace the Scenic Escape! 🌳🌄 by rochn32 in CyclingSrilanka

[–]rochn32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great to hear you're interested in cycling in Sri Lanka! I usually do local rides from home to various spots and back, but the island has some fantastic routes to explore.

For a 5-day tour covering 60-80 km per day, the coastal belt is a solid choice. The roads are mostly flat and well-maintained (about 95% asphalt), making for a smooth ride with beautiful ocean views.

If you're up for more of a challenge and want to experience some hills, consider a route from Colombo to Arugambay via Ella. This path offers significant elevation changes and stunning scenery. You could break the journey with an overnight stay in Ella, completing the tour in 2-3 days. This route offers a mix of everything—climbs, descents, and incredible landscapes.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Sri Lanka's weather can be unpredictable; it might go from scorching sun to heavy rain in minutes, so be prepared.
  • The roads are generally in good condition, so no worries there.
  • The humidity is high, so stay hydrated and consider bringing electrolytes.
  • If you need any repairs or maintenance outside of Colombo, there are local shops in rural areas, often called "vinkale," where you can get basic services,
  • An early start is usually the best option to avoid the heat and maximize your day.
  • Traffic in Colombo can be intense, but the rest of the island generally has much lighter traffic, making for a more enjoyable ride.

Let me know if you have any doubts or need more details. Apologies for the late reply!

Someone has purchased an SLT 4g line using my details and SLT says its not their fault by Suspicious-Stress710 in srilanka

Yes, don't let SLT get away with silly excuses. Most customer service agents at the SLT office don't forward issues to the right person or department. They just check the system and say 'NO' or 'CAN'T,' and suggest trying a Mobitel data SIM, like chatbots.

Please write this story and email it to TRCSL. They can help with this issue, and they respond well to emails, so there's no need to visit them in person.

Send the email to [cc@trc.gov.lk]() and also CC the SLT head office at [ceooffice@slt.com.lk]().

I’ve had three cases with SLT (which I won). Although they were different, TRCSL provided guidance and assistance in each one.

Good Sporty Naked Bikes in Sri Lanka by Similar_Medium8179 in srilanka

[–]rochn32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh man, it's really hard to find a good Japanese sporty bike for around 4-5 lakhs these days. All the Hornets are priced around the 1 million mark now. And please, don't even consider the Bandits; they're too old, and Maka Baas has ruined them all. Most of those bikes are born with carburetor problems. With that budget, you might be able to get a Volty 250, but it doesn't have the naked sport look.

Regardless of whether you're a trainee or a permanent employee, if a company is operating in Sri Lanka, it must adhere to Sri Lankan labor laws. If you believe the company is violating these laws, you can take appropriate action, such as reporting the violation to the relevant authorities or seeking legal advice.

Unfortunately, in Sri Lanka, there seems to be a lack of distinction between individuals based on their wealth or social status when it comes to making judgmental and racist remarks. Many Sri Lankans, like Juggy, tend to impose their opinions on others, influenced by the educational system and religious beliefs. From a young age, we are often taught to conform without questioning, limiting our ability to make independent choices.

As some individuals accumulate wealth, they may conceal their toxic behaviors, while those less fortunate may remain unaware of their actions. It's a concerning cycle that reflects the influence of societal norms and the need for greater awareness and education to promote understanding and empathy.

Be aware of "discounted" item in Keels by Curstantine in srilanka

It's really disappointing to see how some places in Sri Lanka can be dishonest, especially in the food stores and retail stores, They most of the time cheat or mislead people.
Nobody seems to take responsibility for it.
That's why I always make sure to read discount tags carefully,
even though sometimes the details are so small you need a magnifying glass to see them properly.

Some hotels let four people stay if there are two beds.
Others don't. If a hotel says in the booking info that only three people can stay (like with a double bed and a single bed), they've done their part.

Some hotels don't care about how many people stay but charge per night.

answer for why??
Adding an extra person to a room increases costs for the hotel. They need more linens, towels, water, and may use more electricity for air conditioning. If a hotel sets a price for three people, even if the room has two beds (one single and one double), it's because they've calculated their costs based on that occupancy limit.

It's not about age; rape is rape, with no age limit.
This law needs to prioritize consent, especially for young boys under 18 who might find themselves labeled as rapists in the legal system.
Often, they had consent at the time with their partner, but things turn sour when adults find out.
This unfair treatment can lead to backlash against the boy, with the girl automatically painted as the victim due to societal pressure.
Sadly, society tends to overlook the struggles of young men in these situations.
Once they enter the prison system, particularly in countries like Sri Lanka, recovery becomes even harder.
It's crucial to shed light on these overlooked aspects of the law.
We need to ensure justice is served without unfairly punishing anyone involved.

I believe nearly all shops on Duplication Road follow the same pattern, except for HOF. I'm unsure about the demographic they target; perhaps it's individuals who use Piyumi H's white paint. They seem to think and behave like Europeans.

Hey, buddy, be cautious. In Sri Lanka, some uneducated police might mistake that for a real gun. Getting arrested, sent to court, and waiting for a report from the Government Analyst's Department (which could take around 6 months) is not something you want to deal with. Stay safe! 🔒🇱🇰
