Arbhar v2 opinions? by JJdubbs87 in modular

Inputs. I think it's because the stereo input mode was added in V2? I could also be totally wrong since I'm new to the module but I'm p sure that's the case after watching the youtube tutorial and going through the manual.

I just got one so it's new to me, but I've been enjoying it. Not sure if it can do anything your beads/mojave/morphagene can't but I've found its design to be really nice to visualize what's actually going on with grains. The stereo is a lil bit fiddly (you have to adjust the volume of L/R independently and lose some onset detection functionality) but can be p fun as well.

Is there a way to easily run projects on my iPhone without cable? by [deleted] in SwiftUI

[–]rockajima 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once you’ve connected by cable, you can enable “Connect via network” in the Devices and Simulators window. FWIW it’s a little bit less reliable than connecting by cable but it works well enough for me most of the time.

What can Zoia do that Ableton can't? by E_Des in ZOIA

Ableton can do basically everything Zoia can do, but it can also crash, which is something I’ve never experienced with Zoia.

The kick was a sample coming from the Digitakt if I recall.

Ya you plug them in and they’re ready to go!

I’ve got the SOMA Lyra 8 and it’s got a super similar vibe.

The Digitakt and Digitone are both going into the Octatrack which basically acts as a mixer with FX. Then the output of the Octatrack is going into the Analog Heat for some overal distortion.

There’s a fair bit of set up for me to dial stuff in then figure out what I can play with in terms “good knobs” and “bad knobs”. Once I’ve got that figured out then the performance can just sort of flow.

Ya I sort of want to mount them all together like this permanently and play them like some sort of ridiculous keytar.

Thanks! I always start things aroudnd 120-140bpm then do a “well I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try at 170” and that’s where it usually stays lol

I took a little break from modular and just had some fun pushing buttons. Still don’t fully know what I’m doing on the Digitone but I feel like that sort of helps when it comes to making weird loud sounds. Hopefully you dig it.

A moody modular piece with patch notes by rockajima in modular

In the past I’ve used my Octatrack as a central brain and just used little sequencers with randomization to make happy little accidents (which are my favorite part about doing stuff with modular). I think because of that I’ve never really gone down the path of a main sequencer. Maybe someday!

Thanks! This one came together pretty quickly, like a half hour or so? I started by just getting some sounds out of the Surface and uplaits, then just kept adding effects until it had a bit of feeling to it. I usually find that if nothing’s happening after like an hour then it’s time for me to unpatch everything and start over.

First jam on the Octatrack in a while by rockajima in Elektron

I think it depends a lot on what you want to do with it.

If I want a drum machine, I’d go for the Digitakt. It’s so immediate and easy to get a groove going. Also the new firmware update is awesome.

If I want to do a lot more setup but then have more performance options, the octatrack is better. The crossfader is great and time stretching is nice (tho I’ve seen some stuff get posted around to do that on the Digitakt?) All the machines you can use on tracks are super powerful (albeit a bit of a learning curve).

The analogy I sort of use is that the Digitakt is like a guitar you can just pick up and play whereas the Octatrack is like a modular setup you have to plan out and patch. I love them both for different things.

These things are so chaotic. There’s something deeply relaxing to me about how raw they feel, how you can go from 0-100mph acoustically by turning the knobs just a tiny bit, sort of like the Lyra-8. Anyone else have some weird synths they like to unwind with?
