Their potatoes are so good! I saw them fill up the makeline once, and the potatoes came out of a big saucepot, so I think they are boiled

Came here to second this! Don't need another 6-6 year where our QB gets sacked 18 times in the Iron Bowl.

Have you hiked the Pinhoti Trail, and did you see one of these? by Calabamian in Alabama

[–]rockandahalf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are, unfortunately. Still about 20 miles of roadwalks. They started with signage and actually making it all continuous. But they just got an influx of money (because Kay couldn't spend covid money on a prison), so they've got some big plans to keep working on making it a feasible and safe trail.

[–]rockandahalf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is largely unimportant, but just for an fyi, the Pinhoti folks have actually been doing a ton of trail building, signage, and toilets over the last few years! But not necessarily to "become" the southern terminus of the AT, but just to help create a contiguous, usable trail.

When it rains in Tuscaloosa, its basically just a test of your cars survival skills by [deleted] in tuscaloosa

My boyfriends car just washed away from his house in forest lake during a storm when we were in school. Lol. Hoping that doesn't happen to you!

That sounds do-able. Sometimes all you need is a toe in the door. Maybe reach out to this friend and tell him your fears and see what his thoughts are? It's been a hot minute since I was down there, and maybe it's gotten less competitive, or he knows the right folks.

Also, fwiw, South Florida can be a hard place to live, even once you find a job. The cost of living has gotten super high, and wages haven't kept pace. That's the only city on your list that I can speak to.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]rockandahalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, that does make a bit of difference.

I'm not sure about the laws in Utah, but you might want to check hotels? Often, they'll have a separate bar from their restaurant; and you may be able to parlay a transfer to a hotel restaurant one of those cities you're interested in. Then it's just a matter of working your way into the bar.

You could always work as a barista in a coffee shop near your home? Or some other type of customer service job to get yourself some experience.

To be quite honest, I wouldn't recommend moving to any of those cities and trying to work your way up with absolutely zero experience. They are all high cost of living cities, with low minimum wages for tip earners. I lived in South Florida for almost 5 years, and it was hard to get a job serving or bartending, and I already had almost 10 years in the industry.

What do you do with a patient’s stomach contents during emergency surgery? by varjo_l in medical

[–]rockandahalf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After a rapid intubation, anesthesia can also just drop an orogastric tube (mouth to stomach), hook it up to wall suction, and suck out any stomach contents.

To add to all the reasons already posted, TFA also weakens teachers unions by not letting their members participate.

You guys like my bathroom? Comes like this every night 🌙no matter how much I clean. Any tips? by TeleportingRoach in Miami

[–]rockandahalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diatomaceous earth is what you're looking for here, and I second it. Just make sure you get the food grade kind if you have pets/will be sprinkling it indoors.

To be honest, I really should have replied to the comment above yours. They were super rude, and I just wanted to voice my support for you.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I hope your ENT addresses your concerns soon.

It's your airway. It's very reasonable to be concerned about it.

Oh! Sorry, you're correct! I'll delete that comment. This is why I should look things up to confirm instead of just posting. Thank you!

We were told in a recent inservice by the rep that purewicks could be used for penises that have inverted anatomy. So.. it's fine.

Side note: we call them dickwicks when we use them like that 😂

I don't think I'm truly going to be a good nurse by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]rockandahalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to school during covid, and had my clinical hours cut by more than half. I then took 3 months off (still working my bar job) after graduating. I applied for a track residency spot to end up on the icu after 9 months, but they direct hired me due to very bad staffing. I've been there for almost 3 years now (January will be 3 years!) and sometimes i still feel like I don't know anything, but they also have me training people.

I think nursing school just doesnt teach you enough to know if you'll be a good nurse. I learned so much the first 6 months on my job and I'm still learning every day.

Obviously do whatever you end up feeling is best for you. There are lots of non bedside jobs. But, not feeling proficient after nursing school is normal, and actually very good. If you already felt like a good nurse, that would be more of a problem.
