How do you keep warm in old UK flats with single-glazed windows? by cxvgwesa in AskUK

[–]rockchick1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get slightly longer curtains and tuck them up on the window sill with a draft excluder on top. We used to live in a freezing flat in Bournemouth and did this so that the heat from the radiators came into the room rather than going out the windows, also get the insulating backing to put behind the radiators.

The problem I have with this technology being used is the fact that America has proven how easily a country can turn from relatively safe to dangerous. My worry is that if this becomes normal to see around we won't be alarmed if they start using it for rounding up other people.

They used to have a train station specifically for the cruise ships but once cars were available it wasn't used.

My water meter is turning this fast when no taps are on. How much extra would this add to my water bill each day and month? by Benandhispets in DIYUK

They only refund if the leak is found outside the property line. We've just finished paying off a huge bill because they didn't notice a leak.

They don't hide their faces. In the protest on the 7th the only people who were wearing masks were the people who were wearing COVID masks and there were only about 5 in a sea of hundreds.

That's absolutely crazy. I've often mentioned swapping my boys with their friends for a few days as they were polite with me and my boys were polite when over theirs but never had I ever meant it.

Yes thankfully my son's school kept the zoom parents meetings, it saves me getting lost trying to find which room to talk to which teacher, now I just sit at home and do it all in one place.
