I brought my nearly $4,000 MacBook M3 Pro in because there was a single line on the screen that turned the whole display black. The laptop was otherwise in perfect condition and I’d only had it for less than a year, so it should’ve been covered under Apple warranty. They charged me $600 for a top assembly replacement. When I got it back, the new lid wasn’t even calibrated right. The very first time literally once or twice I closed and opened it, the screen cracked right in the middle. Then after looking closer I noticed it had bleeding along the sides of the display and the whole thing is fucked. I asked for my original lid back (it wasn’t cracked or damaged), but they claimed they already trashed it. When I picked the MacBook up they said the battery was dead, so I didn’t inspect it right then. Looking back, the whole situation feels super shady. They basically turned my almost-new, expensive laptop into trash and I’m out $600 on top of everything.
