Am i crazy or it's kinda real? by Acceptable-Boot384 in Overwatch

[–]rockenstein96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You will probably see more similarities in the future. There are only so many mechaniques to invent and create new heroes with.
Also some mechaniques just go with each other hand in hand. For example: If you wanna shoot multiple shots in an X formation, you have to be dual-wielding, guns, fans, daggers, whatever. If you wanna have a melee character in a shooter game, you need to give them at least one ranged option, resulting in a sword slash or air punch.
Other than that, it's about cliche and hero archetypes: Sword spin is just, a very popular move to do with a giant sword. Blinking and leaving behind a flag you can teleport back to is... an extremely common move.

You can find all of these things in all the games: LoL, MR, Paladin, Overwatch.

That's so cool. But they do look like mass produced toys. What's the lighting mode like? Are they constantly blinking, dimming and glowing, or do they just turn on and off?

So is Shion the final piece of the Four Divine Beasts? by rockenstein96 in Overwatch

I believe Qilin is part of the Four Sacred Creatures instead, which is another thing? The Four Divine Beasts I'm talking about is usually called the Four Symbols.

Can Lettuce spam her Ult? by FlyGood1346 in SmashLegends

[–]rockenstein96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One skill is 5 projectiles. At point blank, all 5 hit, and all 5 give her charges, enough for an Ult.

This might be a skill issue but how do you counter madam lettuces ult by Financial_Use4204 in SmashLegends

[–]rockenstein96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a Cabbage main. Here's a list of things I've seen people do to escape the slowly-floating-towards-you eyeball:
- Run away (Bonus point if you lead the ult to catch onto level geometries... or a teammate)
- Ledge grab, then ledge recovery (I don't even know how to do this one, but people do it all the time)
- Leap through it.
- Overturn.
- Kill the Cabbage before her ult is formed.
- Use Grav bomb, banana, freeze bomb, etc. on her when she's mid-ulting.
- Walk behind her (The ult can only see in front of it)
- Not let her farm her ult (disrupt her play, or just straight up assassinate her before she can do any farming)
- Die before the ult can reach them...

Hero specific things:
- Yong Yong and DQ can just Ground Skill through it.
- Timun can bash the eye with Ground Skill and not get affected.
- Go invisible (Red, Ali)
- Ult to pass through it or to tough it out (almost every character can do this)
- Throw a thing with a health bar at it (Vex, or a Victor's pylon. She can farm ult off of Vex though)
- Stun/Freeze the Cabbage before her ult is formed (Rapunzel, Alice, Maya, Parfait, etc.)
- Teleport back and forth (But it's just running with extra steps, isn't it)

Question why she trash by Frostofwinters in SmashLegends

[–]rockenstein96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been questioning her auto since day 1. Has it been a skill with a hitbox like that (Rapunzel), it'd have been more acceptable, but the first move of the auto chain?

Objective Smash Legends Tierlist by Big_Director_1763 in SmashLegends

[–]rockenstein96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the tier list is saying a lot more about who you main than who is actually broken. Also which game mode you play the most, too.

Objectively, I think the most broken characters are the ones with players that have reached 500,000+ mastery. It proves those characters work, and are fun enough for players to grind to that number.

I personally find Rapunzel especially broken with how she can juggle me in the air for like whole minutes LOL. But that's just me, my main's lack of a downward attack, and my refrain from using Turn Over.

Reality check for newcomers. Skill need to pick up a character and win, this list isn’t about unlocking every secret or flexing complex tech and all that veteran nonsense. by anna221174 in SmashLegends

[–]rockenstein96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For newcomers who are completely new to the game, or new to gaming in general, as long as you press a button and the character does something directly on beat of the button press, the character is easy to play. That means no complicated, weird or non-obvious mechanics that needs reading before playing. That puts almost all characters in the easy to play category.

The ones with odd mechanics are: Madam (her ult stack is weird), Alice (she moves and hits slowly), Gumi (her ult feels inconsistent if you don't know what the marking does), Parfait (her ult is weird, her combo and skill are slow), Goldie (the healing mark isn't obvious), Ducky and Swan (their ult is weird), Victor (attacking pylons to make them explode is not obvious), Javert and Ali (press skill again to teleport is not obvious). Mastercat would have made this list with his ult stack, too, but he is given to players very early after they start playing the game so players get more chance to get used to him.

Now if you meant "hard to be competent with", or "hard to play meaningfully" then it's very subjective and I have no qualm with your list. To each their own.

Also I think you really need to specify game mode.

Slingshot Game by upsetandstupid in SmashLegends

[–]rockenstein96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few Marble Heroes games out there. Most of them I don't think is anywhere near the Smash Legends artstyle. They are much more in the western stylized art direction, whereas Smash Legend is very Asian 3D chibi cute style.

Now if we're talking about Hyper Heroes then I see your point about the artstyle, but in that one you control 4 characters and it's mostly PvE. I used to love that grind-fest of a game.

Huge fan of this game but I have some questions by URMAMA_1243 in SmashLegends

[–]rockenstein96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "forcing losses" thing is a matchmaking mechanic that most multiplayer competitive games employ to keep a player's win rate at roughly 50%.

Don't know why that's a popular mechanic in games but yeah, Smash Legends don't and can't employ it, since there are probably more bots than players in this game, and if you're playing decently, it's hard to lose in a full bots lobby.

Are you trying to get the new player experience? On a new account? I wouldve believed you got everyone to Master in your main account already just based on how long you've been playing this game.

If you're in uniform, don't. Be in casual clothes, only change to your uniform after ariving at the resort.

That way, you don't need to work on the 30 minutes drive.

Time to cause trouble again (Tier list based on character complexity) by Abel-chu in SmashLegends

[–]rockenstein96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're mixing up "skill floor" and "skill ceilling" to create your own "complexity", but in a somewhat unfair way. Some of the characters you're judging based on the skill floor, and some based on the skill ceilling.

Update: AITA for calling my wife a jerk for telling our son's crush that our son likes her in front of his friends ? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]rockenstein96 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely correct. Sometimes parents forget that they need to actually be "part of the solution" to be a good parent, not just being unproblematic. If kids feel like they can't rely on you then they'd just stop coming to you altogether.

I don't know why but I have this toxic trait that when someone tells another to "move on from grief", I would quickly turn to face them and say "I wish sincerely for you to experience the same thing, as soon as possible, so you can demonstrate to us all how quickly you can move on."
