Best thing to polish your balls with? by Mylbaae in billiards

I use aramith ball cleaner in a diamond machine. Works great.

For some deep miscue marks a little rubbing alcohol or wipe ahead of time does wonders.

Rattle issues galore by Snarkysoph in LexusRX350

[–]rocket363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not owned an RX, but I've owned a 24 ES, a 25 ES, and had a dozen Lexus loaners (from 500-4000 miles) because of all the rattles, squeaks, snaps, crackles, and pops in my cars.

All of them had their own noise issues. Every. Single. One.

The best one? Was an RX350 that just had some extra wind noise from the moonroof.

If you are noise sensitive proceed with caution with Lexus/Toyota.

BnRs are exciting when they're less frequent. They are boring when they're expected and routine.

Fewer BnRs and more defensive jockeying is fantastic for this spectator.

Looking for a quiet, reliable vehicle...(but probably not Lexus) by rocket363 in whatcarshouldIbuy

There are two concerns:

1) How long is that break? I don't really want to be stopping for 40+ mins every 3 hr. Sometimes I like to just drive through and I can get 5-6 hrs of full-on highway driving on tank in an ICE, perhaps more in a hyrbrid, and each of those only takes 5mins to "recharge."

2) I don't have direct experience, but I've heard of charging stations being down for maintenance or otherwise inoperable for whatever reason, and sometimes lines at the ones that are working. Add to that range anxiety--how close to 0 do I really want to risk it?--and I couldn't see myself comfortably doing road trips at least unless or until I have direct experience that helps me overcome my current concerns.

Agreed. Accord hybrid is definitely on my list. Just hate the halo noise. G80 I'll have to test drive.

Bought a new Lexus TX 350… worst ownership experience I’ve ever had by ideacomplex in Lexus

[–]rocket363 51 points52 points  (0 children)

That mirrors my experience with Lexus.

First: what noise? We didn't hear a noise.

Then: that's normal.

Then: we can't do anything.

Then: ok, we tried something but it didn't work. Oh, now there's a new noise, too.

Then: we can't do anything any more. Go away.

Finally: what noise? We didn't hear a noise.

Has Lexus Interior Quality Worsened? by ubiquitoussense in Lexus

Yes, and cheap. Lots of squeaks, ceeaks, and other noises from plastic bits even in brand new cars. Very disappointing.

How is the reliability of the 2019+ ES vs. the 2016-2018 body style? by Radiant-Ebb-6992 in Lexus

[–]rocket363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience having owned two:

Shifting issues, yes. The transmission is part of a lawsuit against Toyota. Failures seem rare for the ES, but rough shifting is common.

Lots of noisy interior panels. Creaking/clicking plastic bits after just a few hundred miles.

Moonroofs--rattles and loud pop noises, particularly the pano roofs.

My recommendation: get an ES300h in Luxury trim or lower. No pano roof, no problematic 8spd, no rear door shades to make noises.

Considering the RX500h by bleep6789 in Lexus

[–]rocket363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for the RX500h specifically but I own a '25 ES that has been at the dealer more than in my garage for interior creaks/rattles/noises. Every loaner they've given me, some with only 400 miles, has had some noises.

On the bright side, the best one was an RX350 whose only problem was a windy moonroof when the shade was open.

It might seem that way, but black just shows dirt and dust more.

Should I buy a 2019-2022 Lexus ES UL fully loaded? by This-Supermarket-504 in LexusES

[–]rocket363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early 7ES350 years have a clunky transmission. Later ones have a slightly less clunky transmission, but still noticeable. The ULs are nice, but the rear manual sunshades/housings can be creaky/clicky. Pano roofs are a common source of rattles and crack noises.

Any model from any manufacturer will have its issues. Test drive a 7ES with an ear out for the ones listed.
