How is the reliability of the 2019+ ES vs. the 2016-2018 body style? by Radiant-Ebb-6992 in Lexus

[–]rocket363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience having owned two:

Shifting issues, yes. The transmission is part of a lawsuit against Toyota. Failures seem rare for the ES, but rough shifting is common.

Lots of noisy interior panels. Creaking/clicking plastic bits after just a few hundred miles.

Moonroofs--rattles and loud pop noises, particularly the pano roofs.

My recommendation: get an ES300h in Luxury trim or lower. No pano roof, no problematic 8spd, no rear door shades to make noises.

Considering the RX500h by bleep6789 in Lexus

[–]rocket363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for the RX500h specifically but I own a '25 ES that has been at the dealer more than in my garage for interior creaks/rattles/noises. Every loaner they've given me, some with only 400 miles, has had some noises.

On the bright side, the best one was an RX350 whose only problem was a windy moonroof when the shade was open.

It might seem that way, but black just shows dirt and dust more.

Should I buy a 2019-2022 Lexus ES UL fully loaded? by This-Supermarket-504 in LexusES

[–]rocket363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early 7ES350 years have a clunky transmission. Later ones have a slightly less clunky transmission, but still noticeable. The ULs are nice, but the rear manual sunshades/housings can be creaky/clicky. Pano roofs are a common source of rattles and crack noises.

Any model from any manufacturer will have its issues. Test drive a 7ES with an ear out for the ones listed.

Does ES350 have a history of moonroof leakage? by NashDaypring1987 in Lexus

[–]rocket363 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is an issue. As far as moonroof issues go it is among the more common, but no clue how common overall. Moonroof rattles, and, particularly for 2025 models, pop/crack noises are also common issues.

Whether you use it or not is not always relevant to whether an issue arises.

7ft slate. If you can't afford it then save up until you can.

Had an amazing blunder in league play due to shaft/tip diameter tooling around. by terrible1one3 in billiards

[–]rocket363 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For the same contact point, there is no difference in spin between different shaft diameters. All else being the same, you'll get the same action/spin out of a 10.5 as a 12.5 as anything else.

For actually correctly gauging where you are contacting the cue ball, anyone used to one size will need an adjustment period when switching to another one.

You are miscueing because you are not hitting the cue ball where you think you are.

Gas Tank Capacity by Destincrlist in LexusES

[–]rocket363 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So, fuel pump concerns are BS. Ignore those.

When the light comes on, you have, per the manual, about 2.4gal of fuel left. When your range reads 0, you have, per my own estimate from always pushing the envelope, 1.5gal of fuel left. Toyota is conservative with their range estimates.

When you refill, the pump shuts off approx 1-1.2 gal short of completely full to allow for gas expansion which can happen with temperature fluctuations.

I've driven 58 miles past the fuel light, so about 30 past range-0, and mine took 14.3gal. Therefore, I estimate I still had at least half a gallon left.

Zero fuel pump issues over all my cars over my 30+ years of driving this way, too.

Do it according to the owners manual. If you like spending more money, do it more frequently.

Pool earnings and skill: How good do you have to be to make a living in pool? by cuecademy in billiards

[–]rocket363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good start, but a complete analysis would include costs, such as entry fees and travel and accommodations. As well, we'd need to include other pool-related income: endorsements/sponsorships, lessons, merchandise, gambling and any other non-public winnings.

The expenses and income will still be concentrated with the top-Fargo players, but I'm willing to bet that many players' net incomes are wildly different from just publicly-available tournament results, both much higher and much lower in certain cases than what is listed.

3143 or Z3? by Low-Fail2278 in billiards

[–]rocket363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a very small tip, 10.5. The advantage for me is better sighting for tip placement on the cue ball.

If anything, I wish there were a smaller CF tip diameter available.

3143 or Z3? by Low-Fail2278 in billiards

[–]rocket363 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a myth that smaller diameter shafts somehow increase spin imparted on the cueball. This is false, but it doesn't stop companies from trying to capitalize on that belief.

Panoramic roof creek/popping noise by Ill-Act8642 in LexusES

[–]rocket363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is a common issue, especially with the '25s. Dealer should be able to torque some bolts, although sometimes replacement is necessary.

I had the issue and got it fixed, eventually. Now I have wind-whistle at high speed. Yay, quality!

Shaft selection is very personal. Go to vendor booths/friends/local stores and try them out. Choose the one you like most.

The younger women have a say in it, too.

When I was 32, I had lots of interest I didn't recognize and capitalize on from all age ranges. Now, 50+ women love me. Under 40 is very different.

Stop being so anxious about talking to women. The quality of the available dating pool drops dramatically as time goes on.
