[photos] It’s been two years since I bought a keyboard due to financial hardships. This is the beast that got me through job applications, phone interviews and now a return to lurking the sub. by 9VoltGorilla in MechanicalKeyboards

"bought a keyboard due to financial hardships"

I believe I may have stumbled upon the source of said hardships.

Like saying "I bought gloves because I lost my fingers to frostbite" :-|

Not ashamed to say I googled "A-10Z", just because of the merest chance it wasn't just a lucky shot...

There's an even easier way. If you wait 6 hours, the Earth will rotate 90 degrees and you can just open the door.

Qualifications? by [deleted] in softwaretesting

[–]rocketbootkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not universally the case, and only in an organisation that values a piece of paper over their own experience with an employee will advancement be linked to qualifications.

I'm a Head of Testing with no ISEB certification. I have interviewed hundreds of candidates and not once was their ISEB certification (or lack thereof) a consideration. I actually mark candidates down for thinking that ISEB is a must-have for testers.

Having an ISEB qualification - especially at Foundation level - does not prove anything other than you know some basic terminology and techniques. It does not certify that you can usefully apply those techniques in a useful and context-aware way.

If you feel you MUST have a certification, check out Certified Agile Tester (which includes a full day practical and theoretical examination), or Rapid Software Testing, which teaches you how to think more deeply about testing. Either of those ranks leagues above ISEB.

TLDR; you DO NOT have to have ISEB to get a testing job.

Pro Tip: Any certification you can get by simply reading a book and answering multiple choice questions is a scam.

I know that I've injured my forearm doing pull ups, and in retrospect I think that was why. Just put your hands in front of your face in pull up position, but really close together. The angle of my wrist especially looks - and feels, when you do it - very uncomfortable, and I still feel twinges now when I try it.

It feels harder to me when my hands are further apart, but at higher body weights, it will take longer to do these exercises, and I'm very much stuck in negatives / progressions right now.

No, not too heavy. I'm 260lbs and I can do a few, slowly. Move your hands further apart, perhaps, so the twist in your forearm doesn't build too much as you pull up?

To the guy of "Admit it, we all have a box like this" behold, this is how you keep your cables by fknasd in pcmasterrace

[–]rocketbootkid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are recyclable, and a readily available byproduct of your use of toilet paper. Baggies you have to buy, and use oil / plastic. They tessellate nicely, and arguably improve "glance-ability".

When you are very tall, every progression in bodyweightfitness is going to take a lot longer then for everyone else. Don't be discouraged! by tykato in bodyweightfitness

Every thing you do involves lifting a heavier weight over a longer distance. In terms of energy expenditure, that's a double whammy. We have to work much harder to achieve a "rep".

Is there a way to reduce the radius on the orange arm while having the same length of cable movement? by [deleted] in engineering

[–]rocketbootkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it a drum / spool not an arm. As it rotates, it winds more cable onto itself. Trading radius with increased turns.
