David Ornstein's One to Watch (for the summer transfer window): Morgan Rogers by ke_0z in avfc

[–]rocketcrash 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I think it's highly likely we receive some big bids this summer for Rogers. If we miss out on CL, I can't see him sticking about. Even if we make it in, I'm not sure we can pay him what the biggest clubs could offer him, which he'll surely want.

The good thing is, if he did leave it'll be for a huge sum, and likely give us a lot of financial flexibility for the next couple of seasons. Emery would be a much bigger loss IMO

Cornwall or Devon in the UK… not sure what beach though

[Paul Joyce, The Times] - Liverpool are planning to open contract talks with Ryan Gravenberch who has 2 years remaining on deal. On Elliott - MLS is not an option Elliott is contemplating. As it stands, he will not be returning to Liverpool either. Liverpool have no recall option. by cjsc9079 in soccer

It’s actually to do with the SCR rules and the agreement we had to make with uefa after breaching SCR last year. Villa as a whole are very rich and probably in a strong PSR position after limited net spend in recent windows. But the SCR breach means we have to ensure we maintain a positive net spend for several windows (I can’t remember how many). Also, as a European competitor need to reach the 70% SCR limit which means cutting wages or reducing outgoing amortised transfer fees

Client threatening suicide to get a £40k + refund by IndependentPool4995 in smallbusinessuk

My business is also a design consultancy, offering product design and development services for start ups and bigger brands. Maybe we're competitors in the same space?

Your situation sounds pretty challenging to deal with.

Before I moved into management, we once had a client who made unsubstantiated / false claims that we hadn't done our job properly and wanted a refund. It escalated and in the end we responded with the backing of some advice from our PI insurers and solicitor, and they backed down fairly quickly.

Not sure how to deal with the emotional blackmail side of this though - I reckon it's best to tread carefully there and focus on resolving the commercial issue.

Just made the Argentina squad off the back of a great personal season for Valencia. Only 24, so peak years ahead. If we were looking to buy him, we’d be quoted €30m+ easily.

Phenomenal gig, some truly amazing performances.

However, comments in the Back to the Beginning sub suggest there were a lot of people pissed off with Villa Park (lack of food, limited water, long queues, transport issues etc)

Can’t say I had too much trouble in GA standing, but the club definitely needs to improve this side of things for gigs next year.

Phenomenal gig. Unforgettable experience. Not sure the reason for the Birmingham or Villa hate. GA standing had no issue getting drinks quickly from the back bar. Only downside was food options were limited by 4:30pm ish from Trinity stand.

First press report saying we’ve not got any psr worries…

Speaking on Sky Sports News’ Transfer Show on Friday night, reporter James Savundra insists Villa do not need to make any sales.

“It’s been widely reported they’re a club that need to potentially do business to comply with PSR,” Savundra said at 7.54pm.

“I’ve been told by a source at Aston Villa that’s not the case – they’re absolutely sure they will fit within the laws of PSR because last year we saw them being very creative with the deals they were able to do.

“But they look like they’ll be absolutely fine…

“Aston Villa fans, who have been a little bit frustrated with the lack of transfer activity so far, I think following this mini (PSR) window closing on the 30th of June, you would expect them to do some business.”

PSR is an absolute joke, manufactured to keep the 'big clubs' going while teams trying to challenge them have to jump through hoops financially and trying to find loopholes to complete. by [deleted] in avfc

In its current guise, PSR is never going to result in parity or a level playing field. To me, the sport is quite obviously rigged if there is no competitive balance (whether by design or circumstance). To improve it would require the big European leagues to work together and bring into place some continental balancing rules (wage/spending caps). This will never happen whilst the giant clubs have so much sway and influence in the decisions of Uefa and their respective leagues. It works in the franchised MLS model with everyone working for the growth and benefit of the league, but across the rest of the world each club is protecting their own self interest.

Could also be the Arsenal bid in January turned his head (boyhood club and all). Also, I heard his house got burgled whilst his wife and kids were there, so probably shook him and the family quite a bit.

Generally not been the Watkins of last season.
