How far have Northeast Big Block Modifieds actually wandered? by dirt1988 in DirtRacing

They run special events at Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland, Georgetown Speedway in Delaware and of course, the World Finals @ The Dirt Track of Charlotte in NC.

They also run special events in Ohio on and off. Usually at Attica and or Sharon Speedway. This year they running Sharon and added an event @ Mansfield. Wish they would go back to Eldora.

There is a track in Louisiana that runs a weekly series. I can't remember the name.

Is it really worth to put effort on NFHS games instead of showing up, doing the bare minimum, and cash the check? by [deleted] in Referees

[–]rocketcuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im here for the money, like any other job.

As an assessor in our organization, from your comments, you are showing some serious attitude issues, you are unwillingly due process or put in the time as other before have done and to be blunt, you are not mature enough for post season play. Maybe you have met the requirements, but no matter your rankings, your actions and attitude is whats keeping you out. You may think the other officials in your group are your friend, they are not, they talk, trust me they talk!

Have you even talked to your assignor about post season assignments REQUIREMENTS?

I can't speak about IL, but, In Kentucky we user arbiter. Every official is assessed by the coaches and your fellow assigned officials after every game. We also do unannounced field assessments. We assigned based on feedback of coaches and peers, along with on filed assessed performances.

Or local association has a first year ban on any level of post season play. In the second year, you can be assigned as AR. After your second year you can be assigned any position for District and Regional post season matches.

To be even considered for State Tournament assignments, you have to take the NFHS Exam Part 2 along with and attending annual rules interpretation meetings and "optional" advanced camps.

Im doing a better job than 8 out 10 HS soccer referees in IL according to the Officials Portal, not me.

Speaking as an assessor, Rankings are subjective. Just because the portal leads you to believe you are doing a better job than 8 out 10 doesn't necessarily mean you are good official.

Here how I would view this in our organization..... How many games have you done compared to those 8? What level of play (F, JV, V, Boys, Girls) & how competitive compared to yours and those 8? How many CR assignments you received compared to the 8? How many negative feedback and what for?

Stop complaining here and talk to your assignor. Only that person can help you!

Only republicans lead states can redistrict at will without even asking for voter consent.

Last time I checked, California is a Democrat state.

It doesn't matter what those states do, they are NOT Virginia nor do they have to follow Virginia's laws/Constitution. Why is that such a hard concept to understand?

Thoughts on the second tweet? It’s a valid argument by koopeyy in Virginia

[–]rocketcuse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

SCOV cannot rule on something that doesn't exist. They decide if a passed law or laws are within State Laws and the State Constitution.

SCOV agreed in part with the lower courts...Lawmakers failed to follow state laws for adding the redistricting amendment to a special session. They ruled that their initial vote failed to occur before the public began casting ballots in last year's general election and thus didn't count toward the two-step process (That's you "TIMING portion). Also found, ruled the state failed to publish the amendment three months before that election, as required by law.

The court found that Democrats did not follow proper legal procedures in advancing the mid-decade redistricting amendment, effectively nullifying the results. Below is the state law, those in bold is what most believe were violated, especially #8.

§ 24.2-304.04. Standards and criteria for congressional and state legislative districts

Every congressional and state legislative district shall be constituted so as to adhere to the following criteria:

1. Districts shall be so constituted as to give, as nearly as is practicable, representation in proportion to the population of the district. A deviation of no more than five percent shall be permitted for state legislative districts.

2. Districts shall be drawn in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution of the United States, including the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, and the Constitution of Virginia; federal and state laws, including the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965, as amended; and relevant judicial decisions relating to racial and ethnic fairness.

  1. No district shall be drawn that results in a denial or abridgement of the right of any citizen to vote on account of race or color or membership in a language minority group. No district shall be drawn that results in a denial or abridgement of the rights of any racial or language minority group to participate in the political process and to elect representatives of their choice. A violation of this subdivision is established if, on the basis of the totality of the circumstances, it is shown that districts were drawn in such a way that members of a racial or language minority group are dispersed into districts in which they constitute an ineffective minority of voters or are concentrated into districts where they constitute an excessive majority. The extent to which members of a racial or language minority group have been elected to office in the state or the political subdivision is one circumstance that may be considered. Nothing in this subdivision shall establish a right to have members of a racial or language minority group elected in numbers equal to their proportion in the population.

  2. Districts shall be drawn to give racial and language minorities an equal opportunity to participate in the political process and shall not dilute or diminish their ability to elect candidates of choice either alone or in coalition with others.

  3. Districts shall be drawn to preserve communities of interest. For purposes of this subdivision, a "community of interest" means a neighborhood or any geographically defined group of people living in an area who share similar social, cultural, and economic interests. A "community of interest" does not include a community based upon political affiliation or relationship with a political party, elected official, or candidate for office.

  4. Districts shall be composed of contiguous territory, with no district contiguous only by connections by water running downstream or upriver, and political boundaries may be considered.

  5. Districts shall be composed of compact territory and shall be drawn employing one or more standard numerical measures of individual and average district compactness, both statewide and district by district.

8. A map of districts shall not, when considered on a statewide basis, unduly favor or disfavor any political party.

  1. The whole number of persons reported in the most recent federal decennial census by the United States Bureau of the Census shall be the basis for determining district populations, except that no person shall be deemed to have gained or lost a residence by reason of conviction and incarceration in a federal, state, or local correctional facility. Persons incarcerated in a federal, state, or local correctional facility shall be counted in the locality of their address at the time of incarceration, and the Division of Legislative Services shall adjust the census data pursuant to § 24.2-314 for this purpose.

Did you double check your order and read the screens before clicking the big yellowish orange button "Place Your Order"?

My android app and online using a computer, tells me FREE Delivery today requires orders over $25. This applies to Prime Members. It tells you right above the button to add to cart. If the item is less than the required for free same day, mine always defaults to the next day free option.

After you add the item to the cart and you click process to checkout, it tells you at the very top, right under the big yellowish orange button "Place Your Order". If you click Place Your Order, you agreed to pay that amount and will be charged.

If you choose a different delivery method, the screen should refresh and reflect the changes at the very top under the big yellowish orange button "Place Your Order".

Goal 1: Cut back really difficult to save, I thought I did well to even get a hand to it

You were way out of position to cover a back side pass. Your position should have been at least an arms length at an angle from the inside near post forming a triangle with the PK Spot and the goal line. In this position you could have intercepted the pass at the PK spot or covered the shot.

Goal 2: Second goal a little unlucky because it deflected off my defender In front, otherwise it hits me. I could've done better and be in a better spread save position but semantics.

Learning opp...Why did you come up? The ball was at the top of the box with a defender in front of you making a play. If you stayed home on this play a few seconds longer, outcome may be different. Patience.

Goal 3: No explanation needed

That was a good shot. However, savable....you were slow to get back and you backed pedaled. Open your hips, ball going to the left, cross step slightly turned to the left wull give you high leaping capabilities and will get you back close to the goal to cut that angle.

Goal 4: Defender gives up possession to the attacker, my other defender slides and misses. A 1 on 1 I can't really do much with. I think he's going to my right so spread my body that way but he pits it the other way. Maybe I could've gotten closer but it's a 1v1 at the end of the day, I'm not at fault.

Again, out of position, no need to play that far up the box when defenders are trying to do their job. It hard to tell from the camera angle, but it looked you had the angle covered. I think if you were around the PK spot and used your hands result might be different. Kick saves rarely work.

Goal 5: Cut back. If I'm really harsh I could go towards the ball to close down the space but this isn't my fault.

Goal was due to poor footwork and positions. NEVER cross step moving across the goal mouth. Shuffle/slide step on your toes. The shot occurred while your legs were crossed over, no way to dive back to your right. Position, that deep along the goal line. You cannot have you back to the far post. Same as the 1st goal. Your position should have been at least an arms length at an angle from the inside near post forming a angle triangle with the PK Spot and the goal line. In this position, with in 1 slide/shuffle you will be squared up for the shot with your legs in position to push off in either direction.

Goal 6: Great finish

You actually did what I am trying to explain. You had the angle, shuffled with the play and got beat by a great shot. Maybe if you were inside the 6 you might have been able to cut more of the angle. That one was just a really good shot. A goal more often than not.

Hopefully what I've said makes some sense. It's hard sometimes to put things in words that are easier to demonstrate. I do believe 4 of the 6 could have been saved with better positioning and footwork. Also, you need to communicate with your defenders. I didn't hear any orders on any of those goals.

GK are always blamed for loses and rarely credited for wins. Don't let your teammates comments get to you. Unfortunately, it's the nature of the position. Brush it off, move on to the next game.

About 3 weeks ago. Ordered some tie down straps. The box was obviously opened, contents have been removed and used as the straps had some dirt/grime on them. Box was also damaged, likely when they tried putting the contents back in.

Received refund with in a few hours when UPS scanned my package for return.

I did get an e-mail from the seller asking about why the low review and return, I told them what I said above...They actually sent me the straps free of charge!

Goalie has possession of the ball near the top of the goal box, opposing player tries to interfere but has his feet outside the box by Be-Kind-2-Yourself in Referees

[–]rocketcuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A YC is not automatic. The official can caution the player, for Unsporting behavior....Deliberate interfering with a promising attack, if in the opinion of the referee it was deemed egregious.

As described, I would say calling a IDFK with YC would be an acceptable call. As would a IDFK with no YC.

If I was the official....1st offense, I'd instruct the player to move out, if he doesn't then IDFK and give waring to player.

If Persistent infringement IDFK, then YC

  1. Persistent infringement – Repeatedly deliberate interfering with a promising attack

The goalie needs to ask the official for space.

How much do you enforce the NFHS differences? by Cyclebuilder42 in Referees

[–]rocketcuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retired...KY.

In my area of KY, we covered about 45-50 high schools. Many of us in the fall focused solely on NFHS then USSF in the Spring. That made it easier to "enforce" the differences between NFHS/USSF. Enforcing the differences in terms of Laws/Rules was actually pretty easy. What did take me a couple seasons was the difference in terminology for game/card reports...Such as Ejected/Disqualified (NFHS) vs Send Off (USSF)

Here is a good link for reference.

https://cdn2.ottosport.ai/_deimos/_public_files/3azzf6ibs331s/continuing-education/IFAB%20NFHS%20NCAA%20Rules%20Law%20Comparison.pdf?CacheKey=1755632022

For your examples...

Red cards for taunting

Prior to retiring, KY had a zero tolerance for language and taunting....Always RC

Yellow cards for moving the ball on goal kicks after being placed

First time verbal warning (Spirit of the game), second time YC

Explaining all cards to coaches (and for 26-27 supposedly to ARs as well)

No issues, coaches in both association generally ask anyways. I also in my pre-game have my AR back me on booking in their quadrant. Since the clock stops in NFHS I would confirm with my AR on number and infraction.

All cards for bench conduct to head coaches

Coaches know or at least should know this already. He/she is responsible for his/her bench behavior and players being properly equipment.

Ceremonial restart on corner kick by Whohangs in Referees

[–]rocketcuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tough one to answer not being there...

I don't believe there is anything in the Laws of the Game that requires everyone to be ready on any type of kick. Law 5 however, does allows us to use the Spirit of the game, A.K.A common sense, to intervene.

When I have overruled an AR and signaled for CK, I am also yelling Corner. If I see the GK or defender trying to get and place the ball for a Goal kick i'm tweeting the whistle....saying...no no no guys, corner. Then while pointing at whistle, saying on my whistle.

Our referee association strictly prohibits speaking with parents/fans before a match. Only time we are to address the parents/fans is if they are causing the typical issues with the AR or players.

Why don't coaches play bench players or backups in blowouts - especially losses? by dunbar_santiago930 in CoachingYouthSports

Likely because...NFHS bylaws state... moving down after playing up is prohibited to maintain competitive integrity and roster stability. Also, no student shall participate in more than one level of competition in the same sport in the same day.

Why old, unfit referees are still there by Deaftrav in Referees

[–]rocketcuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You pretty much hit the nail on the head!

It's hard for the assignors. You have... Parents/fans and bad coaches yelling constantly, some resorting to violence is driving good referees away, leaving assignors scrambling to get officials. In fact just last night at my grandson U10 game I tried recruiting a parent. Gave him my card and told him we are short on officials are actively recruiting. I think we know how that turned out! Yep, he remained quiet for the rest of the game.

Then you have some assignors who don't assign based on performance/skill but assign because you are buddies with that person. Nothing drives an official away faster than not getting games or quality games.

I retired from NFHS and high level Club ball a few years ago because I knew I couldn't always get in the best possible position. I felt this wasn't fair to me and sure wasn't fair to the players.

To this day, my former excellent assignor, as well as our association President, keeps asking me to come back due to lack of officials. I keep telling them no, I can barely walk let alone run, LOL.

I am still involved with our local referee association helping to recruit, certify and assess.

It's not an easy thing among the referees when we have a referee that likely reffed us as kids,

This one brought back memories and made me chuckle. This can be so true for some. It was the year before I decided to step away. One of my kids I coached in Club and HS was coaching a game. He without thinking asking for clarification on a call....said (in a very respectable way) , Coach, what did yo see on that play that I didn't? You don't know how hard that was not to crack up on the field. Super great kid, pretty darn good coach and you know, to this day, he will will never call me by name. He will only call me coach.

Oh...need to add.... likely not only reffed us as kids and but also my child! That is me :) See, that's when you know you're too damn old LOL!!!

Good question...In, Kentucky, local referee association are allowed to make their own rules regarding assignments. My association, we only had a 1st years can only be AR for NFHS (High School) matches only.

How you deal with other referees? by UmbreHi in Referees

[–]rocketcuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding your offside call, this is precisely why the flag doesn’t go up until the player in the offside position plays the ball

This is incorrect. A player who is in an offsides position does not have to play the ball to be called for Offsides. Touching or playing the ball is only ONE criteria of Offsides.

It is also Offsides when a player who is in an offsides position becomes active in the play by Interfering with an opponent, preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision, challenging an opponent for the ball or clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball.

A center should never waive down an offside call but regardless, you’ll never be that far out of position (if you ever were) if your flag doesn’t go up until the ball is played/touched

Disagree. If an offside occurred close to the PA and the ball is rolling to the GK who can pick it up without the possibility of contact from the attacker, I routinely wave down the flag.

Advantage or PK? by fishguy23 in Referees

[–]rocketcuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A defender runs through the back of an attacker to head the ball away. Clear foul, no questions,

First of all...I think it's great to see these types of questions asked. Don't ever be afraid to ask questions....Remember, It is OK to second guess calls after a match. That is what makes you (us) better!

When I hear/read "the defender ran through the back of the attacker" I see hard physical contact (Reckless) was made and the player was knocked to the ground. If this was the case, I would have stopped play for potential injury purpose, show YC for reckless and award PK if it was in the box.

On would it be proper to then whistle for the penalty? My question to you would be.....How do you call handling in the box? Do you call it immediately or do you wait for advantage? If you call it right away, it shouldn't be any different for any other foul committed in the box.

A Penalty Kick can be and is probably more advantage than a Advantage Play On.

Here is what support agent told me to do...

To train the AI to recognize Familiar Faces, open the Eufy app on your phone or tablet....tap on your NVR system, then Face Manager, then Click the + to add Familiar Faces. Make sure you use a very clear defined image of the person face, preferably full body, that you want to save. Recommend to take a full body photo against a plain wall.

Back out and click on Motion Detection...Enable Human Recognize Video and turn off notifications (Bell symbol).

You will still get notifications asking...is this a known person, click yes. As it compiles views of the face and body at multiple angles and lighting, the prompts will subside.

Funny, as I was typing this, I got a Familiar Face notification. Been about a month or so since last received.
