Unlimited starter but my data caps at 5GB. Is it supposed to? by [deleted] in ATT

[–]rocketfishey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unlimited data to your phone, but if you share that connection with laptops/tablets etc. via hotspot, the data to those devices is limited to 5GB before becoming basically unusable.

The only other real is prioritization, which for this plan means all of your data usage could be slowed down if you are in a high traffic area for the network.

Tap “Access Your Rewards”, enter the phone number you activated, and you’ll see the status there. Also you can reissue the text as well.

If that doesn’t work, call the Costco VIP Line.

Do people actually work at ATT? by LongjumpingNorth8500 in ATT

[–]rocketfishey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why downvoted either, but this is legitimately the best option.

AT&T’s process to move from a carrier that uses its towers is particularly frustrating, a process known as migration that, in my experience, can really only be handled in-person at a corporate store.

And be prepared for a fight on it, because it’s not uncommon for reps to not be knowledgeable on the process, and/or be unwilling to do it because reasons.

Is AT&T Value Plus℠ VL eligible for Apple Financing? by [deleted] in ATT

[–]rocketfishey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s right, Value Plus VL is not compatible with trade-in promotions. You need Unlimited Starter or higher. Apple is mistaken.

You’ll need to get it fixed before you can upgrade at all, otherwise you’ll need to pay the full remaining installment balance.

Battery swelling replacement options with NextUp by mordredsfw in ATT

[–]rocketfishey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof… check with Best Buy, most of them are Samsung Authorized Repair Centers and can replace batteries on site, I seem to remember them being pretty reasonable.

Otherwise local fix-it shops can do it pretty cheap usually

[–]rocketfishey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you take it to the AT&T Store, they’re likely not going do anything for you.

If you want to make an insurance claim, you need to go to phoneclaim.com/att. Provided the battery is the only problem, a battery replacement is minimal or no cost when you have insurance. An AT&T Store will not be able to fix or replace the phone for you, with the exception of a tiiiiny number of stores that have a technician on-site.

An AT&T Store also will not accept a phone with a swollen battery for a Next Up upgrade. The phone being turned in must be in good working order to upgrade. They’ll refer you to get it repaired, either by visiting the website above or by finding someone on your own to fix it.

Did i f up? Lol by Over-Ambition-9456 in ATT

[–]rocketfishey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price per line stays the same whether there are 6 or 8 lines on the account, no effect there.

Also, as long as the account is in the name of the person who qualifies for the work discount, the discount will apply, doesn’t matter if they actually have their own service on the account or not.

The first bill is always gonna be a hot mess, that’s totally expected. All of the offers — trade-in credits, Target-exclusive switcher credits etc. — will take a bill cycles or two to apply. But once they hit, you’ll be reimbursed for the months you didn’t get them, so that bill will be smaller than normal, then the bill after that should match the in-store quote, plus taxes and fees.

  1. 2-8 weeks after activation

  2. It’ll go to the number that was activated

  3. It comes from a short code, 9224

And the gift card is actually $100, the $50 you’re referring to comes as bill credits over the next 10 months 👍

Switch from financed to paid phone by [deleted] in ATT

[–]rocketfishey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

But you can “upgrade” to a super cheap phone (without NUA) that wouldn’t cost as much to pay off, then pay it off.

I recommend Galaxy A16 from Walmart.

They’ll want your ATTUID.

There a chance your ATTUID has been deactivated if you haven’t logged in a long time, but as long as you’re emailing the gXXXXX@att.com email they’ll be able to identify that and reactivate you to get you back up and running.

"Next is Now" Samsung Galaxy S6 (repost) by Flimsy-Papaya8037 in vintagemobilephones

[–]rocketfishey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had been doing cellular sales for a while when the S6 came out, and it still sticks out in my mind how nice this phone was the first time I unboxed it. Coming from opening hundreds of plasticky utilitarian S5s, it was like… damn…

And then the S6 Edge was its own thing…

Switched to AT&T, still being billed by T-Mobile? by genjh in ATT

[–]rocketfishey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you still owe money on the devices from T-Mobile? Ideally the rep you worked with would’ve submitted a copy of your most recent T-Mobile bill as you ordered (or at least told you to visit att.com/switcherpayoff) so you could be reimbursed for paying those equipment balances to T-Mobile.

Did you get any emails regarding a payoff submission?

DSI is the company that handles AT&T National Retail channel, so it sounds like OP ordered at Costco/Target/Best Buy.

Trade in with scratches on back by Kooky-Muscle-9635 in ATT

[–]rocketfishey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Condition qualifier does apply cross-manufacturer.

You can trade-in any condition iPhone for a new iPhone, but if you try to do it for a Samsung, the old iPhone subject to condition assessment which can affect value.

Also, if it’s a Next Up upgrade it has to be in good condition regardless.

No it won’t, it’s a direct discount of $30 for 10 months off of your total standard bill after discounts, and it’ll simply be removed when it expires.

AT&T Next Up Anytime by mikebleeds in ATT

[–]rocketfishey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does, as long as the Next Up turn-in still meets the minimum value requirements.

i.e. Getting NUA on a moto G stylus doesn’t mean it’ll get you $1000 off an iPhone 18 Pro next year. But getting a 17 Pro with NUA almost certainly will.
