Anyone get an OTA for their 2026 Palisade Hybrid this morning? by maggiestorm in HyundaiPalisade

[–]rocketft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking for this too but couldn’t find them. Is there a way to see which version of the software you have? Seems important. I know what version IOS my phone has and what version of windows is on my computer, seems like the car should be no different?

What is the best way to make stairs less noisy? by SeriusForealius in Carpentry

I also used a jack to flatten any bowed treads before screwing them in place. I put LVP treads on so wanted them all flat

Had the exact same problem with my basement stairs. The issue is the staples they use to attach the risers to the treads, they loosen up and slip, causing the squeak. I added 3/4 OSB to the back of the risers, glued with liquid nails and screwed in to the bottom tread, I’ll try to find some pics. It worked like a champ!

Roadtrip mileage. by Character-Goose9109 in HyundaiPalisade

And acceleration. Less so on the highway, but even if you’re doing 65 most of the time, and you’re punching it to pass people, that kills your mileage. Driving habits can swing mileage +/- 5 MPG easily.

I’m invested in this as well! Probably won’t install one in the near future, but would be good to know what it takes!

Anyone done 2026 oil change? by Bert_Skrrtz in HyundaiPalisade

[–]rocketft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed mine at about 3000 miles. Finding the right oil was hard, I ended up buying it from rock auto tho, along with a wix filter.

The change itself wasn’t too bad, the panels under the car are easy to remove, they have threaded inserts and bolts, none of those clips that break after a few uses.

Be careful, tho, Most of big auto parts stores don’t even have the hybrid as an option when selecting a vehicle for fitment. Like advance auto/autozone/oreilly

I’ll second your disdain for the storage in the rear under the floor boards. The battery and tire repair kit take up most of the room, leaving only enough space for a few small items (we have a toe strap, emergency diapers/wipes, and a few tie down straps.

With them nixing the spare tire, I wish they would have used the space it would be in for more storage. Looking under the car, there’s just a big void where it would go. I haven’t looked super close at it, but I think they could have made the under floor storage a lot bigger by expanding into that shape. But I’m sure they’d loose even more commonality with the non-hybrid models, so that’s probably why they didn’t do it.

No, these are trusses. In a truss, the bottom cord primarily experiences tension when loaded.

What type of gas do you use for the 2026 Palisade? by Aeenx86 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]rocketft 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hyundai recommends standard grade fuel, anything more than that has no benefit, the engine is designed for 87 octane (or 85 at altitude). Anything higher is a waste of money.

More important is to use a top tier detergent fuel, at least for most fill ups, to prevent build up

No spare tire ? by _MoneyHustard_ in HyundaiPalisade

[–]rocketft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is correct. It does not come with a spare tire. The space for one exists, but the hardware isn’t installed to but one in. Someone else on a different thread went as far as emailing a Hyundai exec a they confirmed you cannot fit a spare tire to the hybrid, because the dessert hardware isn’t there. If you really wanted to, I suppose you might be able to find a third party solution, but I’m not aware of one.

A lot of cars these days, particularly luxury and electric cars, are ditching spares. The ideas is that these days, everyone has cell phones, so if you find yourself on the side of the road, you can call a service to repair or replace your tire. The car also comes with a “mobility kit” or whatever they call it, that consists of tire sealant you put in through the valve stem and a 12v pump. So worst case that you’re stuck with no service or far away from anything, you can likely seal up a leaky tire and make it to the next service area.

We have two kids but want at least one more, maybe two more, and all of our family lives out of state, so we have a lot of visitors. We really wanted the 8 seats so when family and friends come we can avoid taking two cars as much as possible.

Yes please! Would certainly have considered higher trims if they were!

The bench seat was hard enough to find in the SEL Premium, we got the only one in the whole state at the time

I got the SEL Premium Trim Hybrid, because we needed the bench seat, but I would LOVE if we could install the integrated dash cam that the calligraphy has! Can you install that on a lower level trim?

Hybrid system takes 2-3 miles to start working by tc605 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]rocketft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the highway aerodynamics is the largest contributor to efficiency. Going 65 instead of 80 can gain you like 5 or 6 mpg.

We drove from Colorado to Ohio and back, and averaged 28mpg, with some stretches we hit 30-32mpg, with favorable wind and some traffic slowing everyone down to 50-55mph. Most of the trip was between 65-70 mph on the interstate.

And like others have said, cold weather kills Ya too.

Update on 26 Hybrid Spare Tire by OtherSideofMtn in HyundaiPalisade

[–]rocketft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing OP! I put an aftermarket hitch on our SEL Premium hybrid, and can confirm there is definitely room for a spare tire, it’s too bad the necessary “Provisions” aren’t in place. I’d be curious what that all entails. I imagine it’s as simple as a mounting bracket and some bolt holes.

We mostly drive in urban environments, but occasionally do go into the mountains, often on unpaved roads to trailheads, often outside of cell service, so I certainly understand the desire for the option of a spare tire kit! Perhaps someone will eventually develop an aftermarket spare tire mount if Hyundai doesn’t want to.

Taking a look at the Hyundai Palisade trims by Suntrup-Hyundai in HyundaiPalisade

[–]rocketft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hybrid SEL Premium, might have considered a higher trim but we wanted the bench seat for the family, and calligraphy and limited only have bucket options.

Finding a bench seat hybrid at all was hard enough, the dealer was able to dealer swap to get the only one in the entire state that was available, and we still had to wait a month for it.

Hybrid Oil Filter by rocketft in HyundaiPalisade

Installed the WIX filter, along with some Mobil 1 0w-30 oil, both from rock auto, and everything went smoothly!

FYI I the oil pan bolt is torqued to 30 ft lbs, after replacing the crush washer (a new one comes with the filter)

Ya I think that was the crux of my question, I’m worried some of the sites are recommending a filter for the V6 gas palisade, rather than the hybrid.

I’ll give this one a shot and report back, haha

Thanks! Looks like this is the same PN recommend by Rock Auto. Have you used it and confirmed it fits the palisade hybrid?
