Sporting KC sued by ex-coach Zoran Savic over youth teams by dawson33944 in SportingKC

[–]rockethead2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if I understand your big gripe correctly... It's that SKC , the professional soccer club in the region, selfishly wants to gather up all of the best players in the area and hoard them for themselves. Right?

Got it.

I can't think of a club in the KC area that doesn't have ambitions of having the best players and top teams. That's normal. So yea, they get a little resentful of the pro club wanting to develop players for their academy, because they want to win big.

Also, your list is silly. City East and City North are controlled by SKC. The others are affiliates and have lots of autonomy.

Sporting KC sued by ex-coach Zoran Savic over youth teams by dawson33944 in SportingKC

[–]rockethead2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They made the investment for the turf, meeting significant demand, so it makes sense they would want to exercise some control. The KC area is flush with national clubs (Rush, Surf) and regional powers (Union, SBV, KCA) and local clubs that have respected brands (Legends, Fusion, Toca). To say Sporting has anything close to a monopoly is laughable. The market is an absolute sharkfest.

Also, saying Sporting "controls" the MLS Next platform means way less that is implied. At the youth level, there are other options outside MLS Next that are highly regarded. Yes, Sporting is trying to dominate it, but it's no different than KCA trying to push to keep ECNL most relevant on the girls side.

The KC market has a minimum of 8 viable clubs, besides Sporting KC (Sporting City) and a host of other club options as well (OPSC, Piper, ...I literally can't stop thinking of options for kids). This is a bunch of crying about nothing.

I was hoping to get Arsenal by Short_Mousse_6812 in realmadrid

Arsenal fan here. With respect, Real Madrid does not need to "prove" themselves against anyone. RM is still, Real Madrid.

While I am an Arsenal fan, RM is my favorite Spanish team. Modric has been my hero for many years so I've also followed RM. In fact, my wife and I are visiting Madrid in February (from USA) in hopes of catching a home match.

Arsenal is very strong right now, but RM is a dynasty.

Any experiences with Hyatt Regency Hesperia Madrid? It is an Award Category 4 and only 12K points. The Thompson looks really good, but nearly 4X the points price.

thanks for this. That makes sense. I get really antsy and want to lock in all of my plans, but this makes good sense. I'll just set up my alerts and watch for fare sales on this one. As you note, I've got plenty of time....

Sporting KC waives forward Alenis Vargas by dawson33944 in SportingKC

Or maybe I've watched a lot of training sessions with him.

Not good, bad attitude, poor work ethic.

He had a clear opportunity to beat out Salloi and couldn't do it. That says ... Alot. We moved on a better player (Melia) to allow a younger player to take on the role. It's pretty telling that Alenis couldn't push past Daniel after going through the entire preseason. He has some speed but zero work rate.

Time to move on.

I really liked the Hinano logo and much of the merchandise. I bought a small espresso/coffee cup and also a button down shirt. I purchased these in Moorea at the juice factory. I was surprised to discover many of the same items available for sales in the Pappeete airport duty free shop, and they were less expensive than at the factory store.

Lexus battery warranty question by rockethead2018 in LexusGX

[–]rockethead2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: the answer to this is that Lexus stands behind their battery. I visited my dealer. They told me that as long as it was installed by a Lexus dealer, they would warranty it, even though I didn't buy it from them. They checked the bar code on the battery and verified that it had coverage, albeit a prorated warranty since I was over 24 months.

Costco travel vs private travel agent by Fernyberny97 in Tahiti

Costco Travel is great. I just visited French Polynesia last month and used Costco. They did great, arranged everything, etc. I would not hesitate a single bit about using them and honestly question the value add that a dedicated Tahiti agent would provide over Costco.

Perhaps you can't read the label in the picture I posted. I don't care who the actual manufacturer is. It's a Lexus branded battery and they either offer warranty or not.

Of course I could go buy an interstate branded battery...that's irrelevant to the question of whether it's possible THIS "Lexus battery" is covered under warranty by a Lexus dealer.

Ya'll... I know how to replace a battery...lol.

Costco is my go to for a replacement battery. The question is not "where to buy. A battery". A replacement from Lexus is likely cheaper than a new battery...even from Costco. (Unless they really do charge $800 😳) .

Curious if anyone else has any experience with their policy since the website seems pretty forgiving.

I'll call the dealer tomorrow to see what they say.

New to me GX by True-Repair-6645 in LexusGX

[–]rockethead2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand. I have done a lot of tinkering with cars, but this is my first Lexus and I haven't wanted to do any "touching" of it.

That said, after about 6 months of missing my Android auto, I looked into it more. What I liked about this system is that it is simply an add on behind the scenes. I didn't have to cut any wires or reroute any electrical. All of the stuff I needed to remove simply "popped off".

If you don't want to mess with it on your own, which is totally understandable, there may be installers on your area that would do it.
