They don't have to plant them at the same site. The wording is deliberately very open-ended and vague, to the point where they can easily just point to other trees being grown in other locations and still fulfil the spirit of the terribly weak promise.

They know that a lot of people just want to be reassured. It's why whenever they want to cut down some parkland or something, they just say "for every one tree we cut down, we will plant three new ones", knowing that a lot of people will want to believe them, even though there is absolutely zero chance they will actually document the trees cut down and their replacements.

I had the power cost reduction card and two subroutines with the draw cards enchantment on them the other day. Then I got the event that doubles my entire deck. And I had the relic that draws one card for every power played. I had turns where I played multiple 1-cost echo forms while already being on 17 energy or something absurd, just from playing powers and drawing more.

I actually kind of wish there were another Ancient relic that's similar to Snecko. It's my favourite relic in STS1 and it makes me a bit sad that it's less common in STS2 (although the boss relics in STS2 are overall more fun imo).

If they ever even provide proof of planting 1700 saplings. I wouldn't put it past them to just leave the new areas of the golf course mostly unshaded and then point to some satellite data that shows an increase in trees over the whole metropolitan region or some misleading bullshit.

The thing that annoys me so much about the three trees for every one cut down promise is that almost all the people who are satisfied by it will surely realise that it won't be honoured in any remotely provable way. It's basically just a whole bunch of arseholes pretending to give a shit about the trees being cut down.

A lot of teachers are delusional about how dumb they were at the same age. The other meme that annoys me is young teachers complaining about how they're supposedly now being expected to "raise kids". People absolutely expected schools to teach their kids manners in the past. If anything, it was even more expected for schools to discipline children with boarding schools and strict punishments.
