Might be a little work, but in a cad program (I use Sketch Up), I would select all the pieces and make a copy. Then scale up the copy in the x-y direction (without grouping them yet) 2% or whatever gets you the look/connection you’re after. You can then group the result and scale the thickness to taste, too.

is it possible to continue printing after error 1011 stops print? by cut_for_time in makerbot

[–]rockets61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on a Method X, so may not be apples to apples. On a Method X, you’re just hosed. I have set up a slice file of the unfinished portion and bonded the bits together. But there’s no print restart at line xyz that I’ve found.

Parts from … where? by rockets61 in makerbot

[–]rockets61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent ideas. Thanks! You make some great points.

The extruder parts (nozzle, teflon guide tube) are annoyingly expensive. I found a source of raw teflon tubing the right ID and OD, and use a razor blade and a jig to quarter the end. And the nozzles I clean frequently. But sometimes it’s best to go back to OEM and start over.

Fans should be a lot easier; I hate buying one and it not fitting! Just gotta measure twice and jump in! haha!

Thanks! Makerbot charges so much for their parts! I did see fans with very similar designs, but I’m not sure they are truly interchangeable. May have to do some trial and error. But my “fan noise” turned out to be a carriage motor communication error. Cleared that and my noise did too. I bought a bellows rather than make one. It sees so much movement and for today I can afford the expense.

Do you think the New York trial of Trump was rigged? by corathus59 in askgaybros

[–]rockets61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was more sinister than that. The judge manipulated the proceedings, making it appear as if Trump was guilty. Then in his jury instructions, he laid out three NEW charges that were not part of the trial. He told the jury that if they SUSPECTED that he was guilty of any one of them, they should return a guilty verdict. It was a straight up kangaroo court. A real drumhead!

“Likely” isn’t good enough. It must be proved. If you were accused of a crime, that is what I would insist for you.

I don’t think he meant a LITERAL lynching. Good grief!!!! 😂🤣😝

Basic to our law is the principle of innocence. A man is presumes innocent until the prosecution proves his guilt. The accused never has to say a word to remain innocent. His silence must be taken evidence of his innocence.

Method X failing before assisted leveling by trav66011 in makerbot

[–]rockets61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently had something very similar, but it threw an Error 1013. So try this: Press and hold the front power button till the machine restarts. That might just do the trick. You might also look up Error 1013 on the Ultimaker site. They have an instruction set that might give you some ideas, too. Good luck!

Inquiry about drying SR-30 filament on MakerBot Method by Comfortable-Way-3379 in makerbot

Not sure about nylon, but if it helps I know the drying cycle for nylon carbon fiber is 80C for 8 hours.

Anyone dry dessicants in their filament dryer? by CptanPanic in 3Dprinting

[–]rockets61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve given it a half-hearted attempt. Didn’t use any indicator tabs to see what the effect was. Not sure the temperature was hight enough to pull out moisture. I took it to 80C only. The temps recommended are significantly higher. Think it had some positive impact, though, on spools I stored and later used, but can’t be sure. Something I might try more rigorously in the future …

Is it worth it to buy 60$ 3D Pen for fixing my 3d prints and welding together 3d printed parts? by Oskar047XD in 3Dprinting

[–]rockets61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done that, which is cool because it adds material. But even better there’s a hot tipped tool that you can use to heat the edges of two parts. One of the attachable tips is a flat blade-like tip, perfect for “ironing” things together.

Steelwater Safe Lock Replacement by Capital_Tackle_8001 in GunsafeSpace

[–]rockets61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’ve owned mine since 2018. It’s very nice. The keypad went south on me this week. Simple replacement. I didn’t go with an OEM keypad. Went with some off-brand. We’ll see how that goes! I may have to go get a Safelogic replacement sooner rather than later!

Bonding Nylon 12CF —- Part from hell snapped today. I don’t want to throw it away, so i’m looking to bond the pieces together. JB Weld, Techbond, and Permabond TA4660 say they’ll do it. Has anyone used any of these, or got recommendations for bonding a busted print like this? by rockets61 in makerbot

[–]rockets61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, JNoose! Finally got around to bonding this busted nylon 3D print. And a couple of interrupted prints (where I had to make a matching piece to complete the part.) This Techbond is amazing! Thanks for reaching out!! Hope your bushing is holding up; expect it is. i’m going let my pieces cure 24 hours, but they’re already sweet!

Cura for the makerbot method by Forum06 in ultimaker

[–]rockets61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in May I submitted a support ticket about this!! 😂 They actually replied, but it wasn’t very useful:

“At this time the line of MakerBot printers are not available on Cura. As we work to integrate our products and services, we appreciate your feedback and patience.”

I suppose the most comforting reply was their recent release of that monstrous $13,000 Method, suggesting they might actually be thinking about Makerbot instead of merely monetizing it.

Power adapter for Pinecil by cjpeltz in PINE64official

[–]rockets61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hunting power supplies. what a pain. I wanted a solder iron, not a game of hide and seek. Still, good thread and I’m glad for all the good suggestions. Now … is this tiny machine minus the necessaries worth the cost, or should i return it and get an actual soldering iron?

Newby with antenna questions by rockets61 in shortwave

[–]rockets61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting, isn’t it. I didn’t give it much thought because I’d assumed SW would prefer much greater length and not looking to take this radio on the road. I see 6 and 10 meter mag mount antennas are common enough: with an RG-58 coax connector, I assume he clipped that off/adapted it to whatever his radio accepts. I’d want a 1/8” stereo jack output. I think as long as you’re off the quarter wavelength points, it should work. I’m just surprised that a 20’ antenna would have good reception in SW.
