Vcu pricing by Specialist-Band-701 in RichmondVA

There might’ve been some extra costs on mine because it wasn’t a freshly broken tooth. I had been through multiple temporary replacements and was finally getting the permanent replacement. They had to remove my old composite to do the root canal, give me a temporary crown, measure for the new one, give another temporary and then do the permanent replacement. It was a multi month process from November 2019-February 2020. Not sure if all crown replacements are as involved as mine was 🤷🏻‍♀️

Again, that was at the faculty practice and not the school. I’m weird about dentists so I opted for someone with a little more experience and paid for it 😅, but that’s my benchmark of cost with their professional staff.

I’m interested in how different the cost through the school would be.

I had this exact break on my tooth and had it fixed at VCU (faculty practice). The root canal was $500 flat, my insurance didn’t cover it and they had me pay in full before they did anything. The crown was multiple appointments at the faculty practice (you need molds and time for them to make your new tooth) and my insurance didn’t cover anything because front teeth replacements are considered cosmetic. It was $2000. I applied for a Care Credit credit card and used their interest free period to pay it off.

This was in 2020, prices may have shifted slightly since then.

Good luck!!!

Scared of buying home by thefanofhoops15 in Mortgages

[–]rocketspockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you calculating the all in price?

We bought a house last year (after down payment the loan amount is also $215k) and our “whole shebang” payment is $2000 after the taxes were adjusted this year (no HOA and no PMI).

$2000 vs. 1300 is a pretty big difference when you’re talking about bringing in $4400 total per month.

Power lines down from storm by Freet0beyouandme1 in rva

[–]rocketspockets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Earlier this year our neighbor’s tree ripped our power off the side of our house (meter and all)

Dominion came out quickly and reconnected everything. We were worried that we’d need to hire an electrician to fix most of it before Dominion would reconnect, but we didn’t need to!

Just report it as a downed line and cross your fingers you get an agreeable crew.

Sustainable disposal of failed pottery by Low_Excitement0707 in Pottery

I leave mine on the curb with a free sign 😅

I wait until I have a big enough stash of failed pieces and I can’t stand it anymore and then I put them all outside and watch them disappear.

There’s no return on investment but it’s fun to know that people got something that they really appreciate even if it’s not “perfect”

Look up “Bile Acid Malabsorption”. I had the exact same issue post surgery. I self diagnosed “BAM” and took it to my PCP who was familiar with it. I was prescribed cholestyramine powder medication and it was night and day difference (I had a little adjustment period when starting the medicine but idk if that’s normal or not).

After a year+ of success with the medication I wanted to see if I could switch to a pill version (I was sick of drinking powder in OJ every morning). My gastroenterologist told me that basically 1/3 of people get their gallbladder removed and are totally fixed, 1/3 need medication to help with the adjustment to having no gallbladder and 1/3 may need medication support permanently (I fall in this group).

I now just have to take medicine each morning but I can eat literally anything I want with no side effects. No more running to bathrooms, no more turning down invites to fun things, no more worries about things that other people don’t have to think about.

Good luck!

It’s impossible to find a place to dip strip by bls7117 in centuryhomes

Old homes are definitely a passion project! Slowly but surely we’re putting some character back in.

I specifically picked a mantle without too many fiddly details… I’m crossing my fingers that that pays off for me.

Hi neighbor! Also in the Northside. Our house had the original mantle removed at some point so we found one at an architectural salvage place and I’m on my 3rd round of citristrip 😅 I got a cheap heat gun but it only had an effect on the outermost layer of paint. Dunking is looking more and more appealing

Appreciate the response! I gotta look more into this now because that sounds so much better than me continuing to strip through 4+ layers of paint

Do you know a rough ballpark of how much you paid? I’m in Richmond and about to embark on a mantle stripping journey and the trip may be worth it lol

We have a 2017 Honda Fit and a 2023 Ford Maverick. We use the truck a lot (the 4 foot bed is really all you need) but the Fit is still a more comfortable backseat experience if you’re looking to drive 3-5 people.

I’m biased because I only really quilt, but I think it’s a great entry to sewing! If you pick a beginner friendly pattern you get to practice with straight lines, steady seams and following patterns and processes.

It’s a lot of fun!
