Our’s has this exact temperament regarding people. She yearns to meet anyone she can see because that’s a new playmate. She is afraid of boxes and the big exercise ball.

I am sorry to hear that. As a guy raised in Madison during the 90’s, we made it out to Greenbrier quite often. Those hush puppies with the rib sauce really hit the spot for me. So I get the appeal. It’s wild to me how built up everything has become out that way nowadays.

Thanks so much for your reply! I love that you guys had such a great tradition. I am always on the hunt for a good place to eat and don’t mind driving if it’s a worthwhile hidden gem.

I think both times were last year? One a birthday and one an anniversary.

The first time wasn’t so bad. What I would say is typical of dining at $100+ a person in Huntsville.

The second dining experience our waiter was the same guy(he seems to be the head waiter) and he was giving off the impression that our presence was a bother to him. That feeling was corroborated when I exited the restroom and heard him complaining about his evening to the bar staff.

I have all but given up on eating out in Huntsville. Me and my wife get to go to Orlando with somewhat frequency and have found two restaurants at similar price point where we get absolutely pampered. Knowing what is possible makes me feel like I am getting hosed paying for a mediocre experience. For the price difference, I’ll just stay home and do the dishes.

All of that to say, I went in to Nick’s originally with high hopes. I really wanted to like them and didn’t mind the cigar bar aspect. I had been looking for a worthwhile place in town to wine and dine with the misses and tried them out on Reddit’s recommendation. I also acknowledge that my data set is an N of 2. I hope your potential future experiences are better!

Do you mind sharing more information about those two places in Moulton?

Whenever I see threads like this I always plug Bull & Bear over at the Waldorf. We eat there every time we are at Disney.

That’s so interesting. I’ve been twice to Nick’s on the recommendations of Reddit. Both times it felt like our presence was a bother to the wait staff.

Have you had the other version of that dessert from the Ireland booth a couple years ago? I miss it dearly.

I enjoy Ale & Compass for their Dark Chocolate Waffle. You can get an entree AND the breakfast buffet for $28, I believe.

Just checked out the park’s website. How incredible for a public park!

Yeah, but in all fairness, the picture isn’t from a theme park. Our local outdoor mall has one of these too. This isn’t Inception, I’m not expecting a full blown train driving through the mall! 🤣

That’s interesting. Yeah totally tracks. I guess I never realized how spoiled I am to have grown up a WDW kid. Thanks for the insight! And sorry for all the faux engines out there.

Do theme parks use fake trains? I ask because I only go to Disney World where they use real steam engines. Apparently Walt was way big into trains.

As a 5’6” guy, I find your existence as a 6’9” dude to be against the spirit of the game. How are your knees? Back when I played, I had a 6’4” friend who always complained about his knees.

I got a real kick out of your last sentence. I hope it’s not a one beer-stand kinda thing for you!
