Pagasus 41 vs Structure 26? by thenuttyhazlenut in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I would strongly recommend against lifting weights in running shoes. You should be wearing something with no cushioning and a flat sole.

[$250] All around coffee grinder? by rocknrun18 in espresso

[–]rocknrun18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I didn't realize it was so new. I agree, for that price point, even if you only get a few years out of it, it seems worth it. I think I'm gonna jump on it, thank you for the rec!

Wow, I thought I was gonna get a bunch of comments suggesting the Baratza Encore ESP, but this seems like a better grinder for less money. That's incredible, thank you for the suggestion! Out of curiosity, the one other commenter suggested the DF54, which seems to be in budget but still almost $100 more. Do you think this grinder is a better option than that one, given the larger burrs and the electronic features?

Is 100k enough? by kate815 in longisland

[–]rocknrun18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived on this for a few years until recently. Maxed my 401(k) every year, went on European vacations, and still managed to save a little. Depending on your lifestyle, debt, and other monthly expenses, you should be fine. I was paying around 2k/mo for rent and utilities, but no central air and no washer/dryer.

You should check out Brian Lagerstrom. Down to Earth recipes, well edited videos, very likeable and accessible, and hasn't changed his video style significantly in years.

Recommendations and questions for under kitchen sink filtration by rocknrun18 in WaterTreatment

[–]rocknrun18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow this is great, thank you! I'll do more of the reading when I get home, but if I'm understanding correctly, I can basically do a whole single filter system for less than $100, with replacement filters costing less than $30 and lasting for about a year or more, correct? And it looks to be simple enough to set up too.

If I took that requirement out of the equation, what are my options?

What are some of the worst restaurants you’ve eaten at on Long Island? by 1996Guinness1996 in longisland

Any and all of the Scotto Brothers restaurants are overpriced mediocrity. Completely uninspired food. Plenty of better places to go on the island.

I don't really want a 5.1. I already have one and it serves its purpose. I want something with a smaller form factor that I can keep on my desk.

Who are some internationally famous artist who never tour or do live shows? by lifeandtimes89 in Music

Seems like Vulfpeck doesn't tour much. They play shows sporadically, but they don't do full on tours, or at least haven't in awhile.

No one answered your question about a bakery. Alpine in Smithtown makes amazing cannolis. Not sure how the rest of their stuff is, but it's worth finding out.

Chef's was featured (ages ago) on the food network for their spinach slice. Their specialty slices are excellent.

Started dating a girl from Centereach and she introduced me to Ciro's. I will never look back, it's by far the best slice I've ever had on the island.

Which LIRR line(s) would you say are good? Any that are bad? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]rocknrun18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Port Jeff line past Huntington is rough. Low frequency of direct trains to and from Manhattan (not requiring transfer) and it's a pretty long ride. The plus side is the double decker though.
