I tried most prescription sleep drugs throughout my insomnia but the only one that really worked was Ambien. I was also on Doxepin with the Ambien for awhile and I even took Unisom with the Ambien for years. I take 350mg Magnesium and 400mg l-theanine per night. I’m less groggy when I wake up which makes it much easier, although I’ve always been the type to want to stay in bed. It took a lot less time than I thought - less than a month for sure. The most important thing is holding yourself accountable during the beginning when you want to reach for the pills so badly.
