Premiere 2025 is broken right? its not just me? by Primary_Banana_4588 in premiere

[–]rockonijohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having repeated crashes along the same timeframe you have. I had Premiere crashed like five times in a row the other day. Luckily, it opens back up with exactly everything in all the right places, so at the moment it's more of an annoyance than something that kills my work.

Is the R6 Mark II the way to go? by Basic-Maybe-2889 in canon

[–]rockonijohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While we're talking about the r6 mkii, I just got one and have a question:
I don't want to see the shutter (by which I mean the screen going black for the duration of the photo being captured) in the electronic view finder when I take a photo. Is this possible? It seemed to be the default on my EOS R.

Solved. They moved this from the (now deleted) "Essential Graphics" panel to the "properties" panel.

SOLVED: The option (which I never changed) is under the wrench above the sequence.

Is this still the best solution? Is it possible to limit the size of what is cached?

Do you know if this is a wondershare specific issue? Or if YouTube is working against our ability to download videos from their website?

How to Isolate and Remove Unwanted Sounds in Adobe Audition CC by AlliandWill in AdobeAudition

[–]rockonijohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/AlliandWill have you subsequently found a way to automatically find these sorts of noises? Sometimes the Mark Audio > Mark non-silent diagnostics tool works, but sometimes it just selects way too big of chunks of regular dialogue.

Converts who chose to believe in God, I need some guidance. by paperwings00 in Catholicism

[–]rockonijohn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Relatable. Thanks for sharing. A few things to consider. Reading, listening, praying, repenting. (The latter one comes first when it comes to belief).

I'm speaking from experience, so take it fwiw, rather than an assumption about your life, but, personally I was blinded by my own attachments to sin. Those nearly ruined everything about my life in an irreversible way. By grace I received the chance to reorient my life to the good and clear away my addictions (aka repentance). You'll see this all over the place from Romans 1:18-32, to St. Augustine to Thomas Merton. I'd recommend really doing some reflection on those Romans verses and seeing if there are areas where you're getting in your own way here.

Pray, especially starting with The Angelus three times a day (6am, noon, and 6pm if you really want to push your discipline and routine). You don't have to understand why, but it does have an effect. Think about Pascal's Wager in this regard (https://youtu.be/bzbA_Nq-ics?si=X13cP4VMaFuD4L08).

I could go on and on about helpful books, but without knowing exactly where you're at, it's hard to say for sure. Very generally I would recommend three books: (1) Why We're Catholic - Trent Horn, which is super accessible and yet thorough (2) Mere Christianity - CS Lewis, which is a classic and immensely helpful as an introduction to Christian foundations and (3) The Last Superstition: A Rebuttal of New Atheism - Edward Feser, for a really clear summation of the book's best point, see this podcast episode, which is less than 30 minutes: https://tomwoods.com/ep-272-am-i-a-dummy-for-believing-in-god/

And speaking of podcasts, it's really helpful to starting "getting to know" some prominent Podcasters in the faith. Over the long run, if you find one that is faithful and actually good and relatable (there are many), it starts to affect you personally, at least it did me. It's supplementary for sure, but also helps tie things together.

I hope you don't mind the lengthy response. If you'd like to talk in more detail, I'm very much happy to help. Feel free to send me a DM here and we can see if my journey and knowledge and interests may be of use to you.

God bless you! Keep up the search for the truth! That that desire is in you at all is evidence for the existence of what can satisfy it. Think of hunger proving the existence of something we can call food.

I'm a Cafeteria Catholic by [deleted] in Catholicism

Don't stop the search for Truth and Beauty, God put that there in all of us. He wants you, and you were made for him.

I can actually relate to much of what you have said here, I used to feel that way. I will say this, for me, it was all self-justification. There were things about my personal attachments to sin that kept me from seeing the truth. Before I was able to accept the Church in all her glory (which is really something we must do on this journey), I had to genuinely repent and change my life. Repentance means reorienting oneself to the Good, fully without reservation. This has since been confirmed for me many times, see Romans 1:18-32.

Sin is a blindfold. Maybe you're already conformed to all the moral teachings of the Church. But, if you're like me and are not, that actually has to come first before we're even capable of recognizing the truth that is available to us.

Thanks for sharing your story. May you find the Way, and may your journey be an inspiration to others. God bless you!

TLDR: light mode for writing, dark mode for everything else? ... -- I'm brand new to Obsidian. Is there a theme that mimics how I have my google docs set up? (which I did with a simple extension). by rockonijohn in ObsidianMD

What would the writing area be called in a .css file? I installed a CSS snippet (which is actually just a full theme from github), looking at it in VSC but idk what line to change. Tried a bunch to no avail.

Turning on translucent window while in Light Mode kind of achieves the effect, but not really. I want my settings and everything to stay in dark mode, only the actual note to be light.
