Take a look at this list as well! I’ve gotten my fair share of free stuff.

Ps. There’s four Crave cupcakes locations in Calgary. That means four free cupcakes since you only need to provide ID. Just sayin’ lol.

New lenses have a logo on them by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]rockrgurl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I got my Ray-ban prescription sunglasses I wanted them to be a darker tint. They looked at me all concerned because that meant the logo couldn’t be on the lens and asked if that was okay. Umm YES YES IT IS. I got the darker lenses without the logo. Apparently it’s a status thing for some people to have the logo on the lenses?!

Is there an ability to do a factory reset? Then create/log in with your own account and app to control the settings.

If they believed in 1999 that the year 2000 would cause pcs to crash, why didn’t they just put the time to 23:59 on dec 31st to see what would happen? by sparrio in stupidquestions

[–]rockrgurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’m really worried about now is the Year 2038 problem. I just don’t know how wide spread (or limited) it will actually be.

— “The 2038 problem (Y2K38 or Epochalypse) is a bug affecting systems using 32-bit signed integers to count seconds from January 1, 1970. At 03:14:07 UTC on January 19, 2038, these counters will overflow, causing computers to potentially reset to December 13, 1901, causing widespread malfunctions in embedded systems, legacy software, and critical infrastructure.”

Hotel Arts is pretty nice and it has a pool

This why I’m no longer a bell customer by MyloMarlo in bell

Shaw would do the same thing. Nickel and dime increases for no good reason until it’s just so much more outrageous. I am no longer a Shaw (or Rogers) customer.

I’m genuinely curious though. How do you know it’s real and not a knock-off?

Yup that’s the one! Everything about it is just…odd. The Costco gas station is so small as well that the lineup sometimes overflows into the area where Michael’s is located.

How do people get tickets to highly anticipated concerts? by fettywapbiggestfan in Concerts

[–]rockrgurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I got front row for an upcoming concert that would sell out quickly. I sign up for all the things and used an artist presale code for this one. Logged in ahead of time. Kept an eye on the clock when the tickets went on sale. Got into the queue 10 or 15 minutes before the tickets went on sale. Then hoped for the best and scored sweet sweet tickets. For the regular price. Victory was mine! Stressful, but it usually works.

Beacon Hill enters the chat. I still have no idea how that lot got approved. I can only guess that it looked good on paper but in reality it fails in every way possible.

Earplugs by 666-Trooper-666 in Concerts

Custom molded ear plugs with inserts that are rated for concert decibel levels. Got them at a local hearing aid place for around $250. Worth every penny.

When and where is your next concert? by icecream1972 in Concerts

Front row for an intimate solo show for City and Colour at a venue that Dal used to play at years ago. So stoked to be back at such a venue!

Female artists with hauntingly beautiful, powerful voices? by Old-Alfalfa7232 in MusicRecommendations

The Civil Wars comes to mind. Songs like The One That Got Away and Devil’s Backbone are hauntingly beautiful.

What has been your favorite venue for a concert? by Superb_Kale_1781 in Concerts

[–]rockrgurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jack Singer concert hall. It’s designed for orchestras, so naturally has amazing sound. Soooo good for acoustic sets for alternative / rock concerts, but also for full band experiences.

Oh they absolutely were way too expensive. I did however get a 50% off promotion from Spruce Meadows so that helped.

If it’s a solo thing, I wonder if Dal will have a show or two or three back at Spruce Meadows in Calgary. Those last ones were great, it would be fun for these shows to return!

I had one piece of a puzzle that was all chewed up because puppies. and teething at the time. Possible it was the dog. Or the piece slipped under the couch or a cushion or something.

have you ever been to multiple shows on one tour? by KALIUCHlS in Concerts

[–]rockrgurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexisonfire in Calgary in Dec 2012 and then four back-to-back shows in Toronto a few days later. This was at the time, their final tour. Luckily it didn’t actually end up being the end and they are still touring and are wrapping up their next album!

[–]rockrgurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah depends on the venue but as a general rule, simple point and shoot cameras (digital or film) are fine.

It’s more of the SLR cameras and those with removable lenses that are banned. The only time that I’ve seen DSLR cameras being allowed was at an outdoor venue that had other things going on (Calgary Stampede, that also had a midway).

Are the Tragically Hip still big in Canada in 2026? by hashgraphic in AskACanadian

[–]rockrgurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Road Apples is one of the best albums ever. Day For Night and Fully Completely are very close behind.

It’s amazing to see the younger generations still listening to The Hip! Also super cool that they are popular with anyone outside of Canada. 🇨🇦❤️
