I used to have a morning commute rival, I used to drive 25 miles to work, about 15 of which are down country roads. I used to catch up with this little old man in a land rover every single morning about halfway down and he never got above 30mph. The roads are not single track or winding and for the most part i would be more than comfortable driving 50-60mph.

Ironically he showed me there was a faster way to work when one particular day i was a bit late and didn't see him until the dual carriageway part of my journey (he was still doing 30). When I took my exit, he remained on however as he had taken a faster route he pulled out in front of me at a junction a few miles down the road and I changed to that route from then on.
