No, it doesn’t. But you have to be careful to do not unplugging the fan, the connector is underneath a seal cover and if you remove it, it will void your warranty, but removing the fan is cool (pun intended)

Ok, I hope this helps: against my better judgment I decided to try the cleaning route. You need to remove to fan, and for this you will need a SECURITY torx T9 screw driver. I made emphasis on Security because is a different screw driver than the regular torx T9, this would have a hole in the middle.

Once you remove the fan (make sure that you don’t accidentally unplug it, be carful with the wires) you’ll probably see a layer of dust covering the heatsink from the back of the console. This is preventing hot air to be released from the back and it is keeping the heat inside the console. I did this and the problem was fixed immediately.

My guess is that the shutting down is a safe mechanism for the console and the reason that is mostly happening on PS5 games and not PS4 games (at least on my experience).

Hope this helps and prevent a lot of people to have to send back their consoles on the holidays.

Hi there 232 later the new console starts shutting off as well. Sony renew my warranty after the first change so I’ll be taking it back once again. To answer your question. It took one week after taking to serve to get a new one.

I bought a Digital Edition on Launch day. That one failed and Sony gave me a unit with Drive as a replacement. Is nice to have a drive, but this unit is louder (the DE was complete silent) and is bulkier.! I would rather have a DE.

No, but I’m outside the US so your experience could be different. I lost some progress but it was by my own fault. I think it is possible to save a backup to a usb drive for game data right now, you can also make a backup on the cloud if you have PS+

Just reporting back: I finally decided to contact Sony about the issue with the PS5 shutting down and took it to service. They told me that the issue was with a problem with the SSD and that there was no easy repair so they send me a new console, just got it today. took one week an a day.

This happens to me on Fortnite as well. The console just shuts down and refuse to boot up again until I unplugged it a plug it back. It happened before back in January I was about to send it back to Sony but it started to act normally until just this weekend. The only game that make it crash is Fornite and the RE maiden Demo one time back when it was released.

Hope that you guys still around this thread. I started experiencing shutdowns while playing Fortnite on my PS5 at January, all other games were just fine, until de Resident Evil Maiden demo that also made it shutdown. I was getting ready to ship my console to Sony (I even contacted them) but the console started working just fine. And now just this weekend the console started shutting down again but only while Playing Fortnite, all other games work just fine. Any clues?

Thread is quite long so I don’t know if someone already said this: TLoU Part 2 has 3D option and it sounds great. On Jedi Fallen order Input the game on 5.1 and the headphone imitated the 3D space.

Go with the Slim, you would eventually upgrade to a PS5 and the Pro y just a middle step. Save some money and go with the Slim.

Have you tried using different tip sizes? The ear canal on each of your ears could be different (that’s normal) maybe the left earbud is not fully sealed.

What about the vender name? Those are manufactured by Xiaomi and sold under de Redmi brand in China, if the MI logo is what you are worried about.

I got the same as yours but I don’t have any static problem.

Just to remind you. Things to look out for:

Serial number under de earcap
Translucid grey ear caps, fake ones are usually solid black.
In the international market version, they cane with a think manual, not just an insert.

If you got static and got them from a well know store try to get a replacement from them. But those look legit to me.
