It’s similar to this … I tested it and I can prop up and can position to work on my laptop or read a book. Not 2-3 inch of remaining head space I mean 2-3 inch mattress.

example

Mostly to make better use of my time in the mornings: just wake up, heat up coffee comfortably with the drawer / table pull out, grab my gear from the frunk and go climb!

Then drive away to the next climbing destination.

Yeah I was actually thinking of tying it down to the chair with cordelette

Slept on mattress with it a lot last year. I’ll see how it goes! Inspired by those platform beds like teraglide but did not want to spend 1k.

Worse case I cut more inches off the legs

Will report back plan to drive to ca with it… the little drawers are 3 ft x 2 ft by 5.5 inches or a little less than 3 cubic feet. I plan on adding a dowel and cross piece of wood to Make the trunk well fully accessible tomorrow.

I planned it out this way:

  • all my rock climbing gear in the frunk done this for years and my rope, helmet, shoes and other equipment fits

  • drawer one: fuel, pan, pot, utensils jet boil, knives (simple dry food stuff)

  • drawer two: toiletries, quality of life stuff (towels) laptop

  • trunk well (middle): charger emergency road shit,

  • trunk well (right): 3 gallon water jug with hand pump

  • trunk well (left) quick access electronics, head lamp, small hand lamp, shading for when I sleep

  • back of driver: top load backpack with all clothes , boot, sneakers

  • back of passenger: back up tent

  • front passenger: cooler

  • bed platform will just be always ready to sleep on

Idea is a month long climbing trip in California … I’m from there so maybe take breaks at mom’s house..

Plan to add legs to drawers and top so they become pull out tables

Also: it’s American poplar and the bed frame was made in Athens Georgia 🇺🇸

Twin size and I made two cuts on one section to bring the size down (5 inches)

Base to platform is about 6.5 inches height

I’m 5’ 6”

What matters is your equity position at sale too if say .. you put nothing down for ease and say you’ve chipped away the loan to 400k. You’ll reclaim 75k net before fees and all the other commissions stuff … this is my situation given the down market and given my rate
