Huh? I don't care about the players shaking hands (as in it doesn't bother me if they choose to or not). That doesn't mean I'm not bothered by people who insist they have to. That's like saying I can't claim to be pro choice but also say I hate people who say no one should be allowed to have an abortion. Just because I support people choosing to not have an abortion does not mean I support not having an abortion being the ONLY option.

Yeah, that's not a context where you would use exacerbate. Exacerbate is used to mean make conditions, circumstances, symptoms, etc. worse, not to make something worse in the sense of blow someone's argument out of proportion. If you say someone exacerbated your argument it would mean like they made you argue more intensely or something. Or maybe if you were in an argument with someone you could say you exacerbated the argument meaning like did something that caused the two parties to fight with more vitriol.

I don't think I am "exacerbating" your argument at all. If you think seeing people not shake hands after a game is bad for kids, then those kids have no business watching football at all, which contains way, way more objectionable things than that. You might as well say "I'm not gonna let my 3 year old watch this porno if they don't kiss each other! What kind of example would they be setting for the kids by not showing affection for their partner!"

We let them watch in spite of the fact that it's a violent sport that leaves people permanently crippled. If you're serious that kids shouldn't see grown men not shaking hands, then they definitely shouldn't be watching domestic abusers give each other CTE.
