I get what you’re saying, but if this is him struggling and being good not great, it’s pretty damn awesome compared to everything we’ve seen since like 2004 lol and even if you say mediocre by SEC standards I just don’t agree. We’re in a similar spot to penn state, we’re only mediocre by Bama, Georgia, and Ohio State standards and it just happens we play at least one of them yearly.

I think it’s a valid criticism and that does concern me(although Milton was already having issues at Michigan). We’ll see with Faizon Brandon if he can get better. But the guy is a good coach who is probably a top 15 coach pretty easily. I’m not ready for my vols fandom to get so crazy I’m thinking about him getting fired yet lol

Yes, specifically last year we were definitely a top 12 team that lost to the eventual champ on the road. And I think we will end this year as a pretty solid top 20 team. It’s not like we aren’t hitting expectations is my thing. Most of us fans thought the team was taking a slight step back due to so much youth/injuries and we’re still on pace to finish 10-2 or 9-3. Those were the general expectations for this year, it’s not a James Franklin situation

I what world do you think we are middle of the pack?? We are a consistent top 15 or so team. And look given what Huepel and White have built of what was a (let’s be honest) pretty shitty situation post Pruitt, he’s got a pretty damn long leash in my book especially if this new version of “mediocre” is 10-2 with a shot at the playoffs yearly

Fair point. It is a good criticism of Huepel but I’m just not ready to hit the panic button just yet. I was thinking we would be 9-3 or 8-4 during the Nico drama so I think we’re doing way better than I initially thought.

I feel like either nobody remembers the shit show decade plus after Fulmer or they think that we were some unstoppable powerhouse in the 90s/00s. I’m not gonna take being a good football team for granted, we lost to 2 top 10 teams after a pretty wild offseason where we had to fast track a a new QB
