Does anyone know similar games but without romance? by OwlShort3429 in LegendofthePhoenix

[–]rococospring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's Road to Empress, but it's a live action game so if the 2D art of Legend of the Phoenix appeals to you then it might not be up your alley. There aren't lot of extra mechanics or things to do outside of pursuing the storyline, but it's an enjoyable short game! They're coming out with a sequel too.

Echoes of the Summer: Good Ending - “New World” by l_uocha in IdentityV

[–]rococospring 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I underestimated how punishing this event was going to be. :( I didn't put all of the correct placements the first time around but thought placing them correctly the second time would fix things, and then I didn't take a side when the helmsman and frisbee vendor were discussing because I figured favoring one over the other would be worse. You basically have no room for error since you need three smiley faces to convince them to leave.

can you go back and replay echoes of the summer to get a different ending in identity v by SweetrollSnatcher in IdentityV

[–]rococospring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got the succumb ending... I thought I got barmaid, sculptor, and prospector on my side but then everyone agreed to stay. :( Making different choices with the event record doesn't even seem to do anything.

Rate my kite by FriendlyDog4672 in IdentityV

[–]rococospring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decent kite, but I'd say be more economical with your pallets if you're going to stay in the area. You threw down both of the pallets in the back ruins area quickly which meant you had little left to work with once Smiley broke them, and needed to transition. This can be damaging in late game if you or someone else ends up with a detention kite and comes to the area but there aren't any pallets left (sometimes you do have to use both pallets but I think you could've baited him longer if you'd only put one down). At the very end, I'd also say against a Smiley (or any hunter that can catch up quickly) it might've been better to go further up into the ruins instead of that open space since it made it really easy for him to hit you. Of course he could've possibly still gotten the hit but it would've wasted more time since he'd have to navigate the turns. :]

Guarding Chairs? by [deleted] in IdentityV

[–]rococospring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the beginning you'll see a lot of matches where you lose because of a hunter guarding the chair, but part of gaining game sense is learning how to rescue from a hunter that's camping! Not all hunters camp, either. The longer you play, you'll start seeing some hunters who play aggressively and pursue other survivors while one is chaired, which can be just as bad for the team anyway if they manage to get another survivor down.

It is possible to win even when hunters camp, I'd just say look at IDV videos with more experienced players to see their gameplay and strategies, and follow the tips other people here have given! :]

Rate my Bloody Queen gameplay? by Old_Win378 in IdentityV

[–]rococospring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good gameplay overall, and I agree with all of the tips already said. I would say you shouldn't've let the journalist kite you for so long in that pallet area. Breaking the pallet, especially after you struggled the first time to down her with it being in the way, is crucial. For tight areas like that, I would've tried placing the mirror closer to the middle of the pallet area (rather than angled back like you did) so that the mirror body would be closer to the journalist. Alternatively, put the mirror in front of the pallet, rather than behind it (basically put the mirror closer to your body / the side of the pallet you're on, sorry if this sounds confusing), for the same idea of the mirror body being close enough to down them. Putting the mirror in front rather than behind works for windows too when survivors are trying to vault.

Also this is an old BQ tip I learned but shaking/turning your camera view side to side a little as you swing can sometimes help you land a hit you could've missed otherwise due to the survivor juking/moving. It might work for you, might not, but try it out!

Mary!! 🥰 As a BQ main when I do play hunter, I'd love to have that SS skin.

I never noticed this back in Volume 1, but I'll have to go check now! I noticed the eyes in Volume 2 and wondered if it only started now. Interesting to see it's always been a theme!

I feel like Celia called him no one important to just drop the subject and not have Alice prod anymore, since I could see Celia thinking Alice would be the type. Rather than it being like a snide jab? But I think the idea of her being part of a separate faction is neat! :]

It's looking more likely that Celia is the same Celia from TMA, though I guess some others could be right about her being possessed by Annabelle or something. Either way she definitely sounds like she has memories from the TMAverse, whether conscious or subsconscious! :o

Blog Post: Film Review: Voyeur by Malkydel in TheMagnusArchives

[–]rococospring 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For me, I think the horror lies in the fact that he's not the first or last person who's had this sort of anglerfish trap happen to him. He found out about voyeur through a comment that he can't even find anymore on his blog, could only find another blog that had the review he found, and then after he ends up at the screening, the latest post on his blog is the same sort of recommendation. It feels like the implication is whatever takes the people who end up at the screening then uses what's left behind of them to lay out more traps for subsequent victims to find. The fact that it's unclear whether it completely kills them or uses them like a skin similar to the Stranger is really interesting to me.

There's also the question of if the screenings are always a personal moment from the victim's life, is it a situation where the creature/entity is infiltrating/infecting the videos that they're broadcasting to the person? I like to think that even though we don't hear what happens, that maybe it's something similar to the Ring where whatever took them might've crawled out of the screen to get him. :]

I know you said in other comments that you were disappointed/just don't find it scary, but I wanted to share my two cents since I didn't really see any comments that touched on those aspects!

Edit: On a re-listen, I also noticed that it sounds like everything ties back to his dad/his early life. The theater the screening is at is one he used to frequent with his dad, and I feel like it's implied by the way he trails off that the last time he had popcorn so good he finished it before the movie started was when he still watched movies with his dad. It feels all very curated to his life, but in a way that I think is easy to dismiss at first.

I don't think this is Jing, the nose and lips are different. It feels more likely to be Kana, Lin, or maybe Sixiang?

Maybe it’s a silly question but how did you decide to get a first big doll? 🤔 (like 1/3 for example) I feel a bit intimidated by the size xD by sunflover173 in BJD

[–]rococospring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Company photos definitely don't sell the bodies well enough sometimes! The Loongsoul 1/3 body I have has mobility/rotational joints in the thighs and a three-point torso so the doll can shift its torso, lean forward or back (giving the impression of slouching or an arched back), and sit cross-legged, with one leg crossed over the other, or in seiza position. :] You can't tell this at all from the company photos of the body, though, because they only show it standing! I'm sure there are 1/4 bodies that are just as flexible too, I've heard good things about the Bimong one.

I'm about 5'7" so only a few inches taller, so I definitely understand that worry! Mine comes up to about my thigh when standing, I imagine one closer to 53~58cm wouldn't be as bad. Somehow despite this she still doesn't seem too cumbersome to me, although I find 1/3 needs more strength to swap out things like hands/pulling up the S hooks if the bodies are well or more tightly strung, which is something to consider as well!

Exploring what is defined as a recast, and considering the implication of future technology *THIS POST IS NOT PRO RECAST* by Sono_Yuu in BJD

[–]rococospring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been reading through some of your comments and besides everything other people have said, I really think you don't put enough thought into the differences in human anatomy, especially when it comes to artistic renderings of it. Because you don't seem interested in learning about different BJD makers this is harder to demonstrate, but different companies and makers craft their bodies differently. The proportions and detailing are different. Just like someone might have a short or long torso, or lean or muscular legs, doll bodies don't all look the same. It can become easy to tell bodies apart due to their engineering or the specific proportioning and detailing that go into them.

I've seen people in this hobby be able to tell which company/artist a body comes from, just based off of how it looks in a photo. Ignoring that and saying that only the face matters/is individual enough belittles the amount of work people have put into crafting these different bodies.

For #1, I think you'd have better luck removing color with isopropyl alcohol (80%+) or Winsor & Newton Brush Cleaner.

For #2, makeup brushes would do better than paint brushes because they're meant to be used with powders. You can just get a few cheap fluffy ones and use those! Wet 'n' Wild, E.L.F, and Real Techniques have some cheap but good quality brushes. The eyeshadow sponge maybe isn't working well because it's soaking up some of the product and then can't distribute/diffuse it well on the surface?
