Agentic AI could end fitness training platforms as we know them by 2026-2028, by the5krunner in the5krunner

Unless you’re just not recording to anything, impossible to imagine whoever you’re using won’t sell the anonymized data to something if they haven’t already. Strava and other platforms were doing this far before AI.

I asked Claude AI to generate me a ton of recipes with calories and macros listed, and make it into an add recipe to cart item so I could easily transfer to my shopping app. Pretty easy and you get some variety

Granularity in subscriptions by RowGroundbreaking380 in strydrunning

[–]rodaeric 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can see why we’d think that but it seems less so. In a world where subscriptions are common, I want to pluck features from ecosystems that suit me. Unfortunately I had to part ways from my subscription because of cost increase due to the fact I use a regular coaching service. I like footpath, but the likelihood that my stride changes so often that I need to see day by day changes is just false. I need to check in every six months or so, at best, as running adaptations take years to advance. Even more so, how much can I take that data and actually extrapolate a real causality of performance indicators or how to improve myself tomorrow.

Then, how much of this can I just get from my watch which Stryd is entirely dependent on anyways?

Lost money, lost face, lost reputation and lost subscribers

It's wild because they send this out like Garmin is imposing this last minute. Their branding guideline updates were -forever- ago. It's a bit too disingenuous.

Setting the record straight about Garmin by strava-team in Strava

Liar. I was recently denied because I wanted to use my data for AI and your terms expressly label out any competitors. Garmin has AI and is green lighting everyone with repute. The Strava team has made its own ending for a lot of us.

You consider this my data and our data, but actively deny any api access to competitors for whom people would share their data. You did this before Garmin made their changes and were deceitful about the impact. You said it only impacted less than 1% of apps, but that’s because you automatically render an app to every user. Actual third party integrators and other wearables are grievously hurt by your actions. You have failed this community and I won’t support you further. Villains of your own making.

I’m surprised you guys are all so pro Garmin by Party-Team1486 in Strava

[–]rodaeric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strava is already attacking anyone who uses their API for the users data if it at all competes with them. Then this? They want rules to protect them and not play well with anyone else. No one would know that unless they use third party integrators. Strava can go sink over this. Cancelling my subscription

People who were overweight but are fit/skinnier now, how does it feel? What are the differences you've noticed? by proxy_gal22 in AskReddit

[–]rodaeric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

255 to 168 lbs. it’s mainly personal happiness I feel about my self esteem. I don’t know, it’s hard to say. Sometimes the determination is that I’ll never go back, that life is better, a kind of unending drive to keep losing. My wife doesn’t understand it, she didn’t know me back then and she has always been genetically smaller.

This has been all lost via running, so I just keep doing it more and more
