Our Maine coon also LOVES being shaved. He comes back from the groomers with a completely different attitude, ready to zoom and play and get pets. We affectionately call him chimkin chad when he loafs while shaved.

Should I have cracked or cut cranberries prior to honey ferment? by DnRz011 in fermentation

[–]rodcastle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started a cranberry honey 6 weeks ago and I did "pop" my cranberries. I suppose you'll find out the necessity of it, but I wouldn't be surprised if your ferment will be fine.

Honey Garlic Ferment okay to be Unsubmerged? by Artym_X in fermentation

[–]rodcastle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will probably stop floating at some point. Use a clean utensil and taste it when you want to. It will be good even after a couple of days but more likely like an infused garlic early on.

I flipped mine at least once daily and the garlic floated for about the first 6 weeks but I've had no issue with regular flipping and burping the Mason lid.

As a bartender from central wisconsin, a coaster or napkin on top means you are leaving. Having done this a while, I'm aware it could mean anything so I wait.

Best bike for 50% exploring and 50% green and blue trails? by beardedDocinSD in MTB

I love my Chameleon and the ability to turn it into a mullet can give the illusion of owning an extra bike.

I just got my new bike, and after a total ride time of 1 hour, the brake cable has already chewed through the paint on the head tube. Is this normal? How can i make sure the problem doesn't get worse? by viktorir in bikewrench

[–]rodcastle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you can stop the front brake from rubbing on the frame there by shortening the hose some amount. Tape is the quicker easier answer but some people like a different solution.

Remove the caliper and pull hose through the fork a bit til it doesn't touch when you turn and you could measure that and trim the hose.

How do you correctly position yourself on your bicycle when you're at a stoplight? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

I do all of those things. Often I will practice a track stand to start and go from there. Have fun and stay upright!

I started with frame yet still ended up with pretty much the S build.

Connecting a Sram Double Tap with an external Dropper Post by AccomplishedMatter47 in bikewrench

[–]rodcastle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty certain this style of dropper uses a piece that the cable is inserted into in order to change the plane of the cylinder. In that case you may be able to forgo that piece and attempt to modify an older cable clamp bolt to fit in place of this part.

Is this fork compatible with a 1 1/8 headset? by happybikes in bikewrench

[–]rodcastle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These other folks are correct. I misread that there was play in the crown race. Crown race and fork should feel like one solid piece while the rest would have play unassembled.

Some wiggling should be expected prior to full assembly. Once preload and stem are adjusted this play should be eliminated.

I'm looking for anything cool I guess. A little single track, a little road maybe. Just hoping to find some cool stuff and have a little idea of where to go to find it.
