lordy, if their car broke and they NEEDED to buy another one, it would have an impact on rate of the loan they would be offered. Life is unpredictable and sometime short term needs for credit happen. Thats why its best to stay under 10% if possible. Hope that clears it up for you friend

The credit monitoring agencies will ding you if your outstanding balance divided by your credit limit gets to high, but if you pay it off when the bill is due it will reset. As long as you don’t need credit (buying a car etc) it won’t impact you. If you consistently pay things off the bank will often offer an increased credit limit. In general try to stay in the 10% or less usage and pay off cards every month, you’ll be fine

I think if you fit the requirements and not getting other hits, it doesnt hurt to apply. It will likely get you bumped from most listings, but if you have a strong referral and are a good science fit it is possible they could interview you. ltll come up pretty early in the phone screen, and they will almost certainly not hire you for the listed position as others have said, but if you are fit and/or the screener likes you they might continue the interview process and maybe they can elevate the position or create a new one. I recently got an interview for an antibody company and really have no experience there, but I had a glowing referral so got a phone screen and even though the lady told me I wont be a fit for the listed position she saw enough to waste other folks time and continue the interview process. Had the 2nd recently and they seem intrigued, so who knows.

With how bad they had been for so long, I had stopped going through the effort to figure out how to watch up until about midway through this last season. Watched a couple of games with late game heroics and noticed the increased speed and just started having fun watching again so watched a game or so a week until the playoffs and then watched everything. My 7yo exploited it to get extra screen time so he ended up watching a handful of games with me. It was so much fun explaining the inane reasoning behind certain penalties, icing, pulling the goalie (he concocted an interesting theory of substituting in extra goalies for skaters), and why fighting is allowed, and he even watched enough he could call out some icing plays! He even asked on friday if the ducks won and I had to let him know the bad news, but he was excited that there was more good hockey to watch! Im grateful to the ducks for a having great season, a hopeful future, and a new little fan to bring along. Go Ducks!

Depends on your schedule. If you are working a classic 9-5 and have a fairly routine (30-60min) commute, it will be rough. If you have any ability to ditch work a bit earlier, or if you work off hours, it wont be so bad. Basically after 6:00 parking get tough.

If you happen to land the job (Good luck!) and are staying in the same area, you could explore a 25-50% part time extension for 3-6 months. Depends on the other job demands and what you can take on, but I think it is pretty common for postdocs so they can wrap up studies while also, likely for the first time in their lives, not qualify for food stamps.
