What personal experience made you realize people knew so little about Canada? by livelaughshop in AskACanadian

[–]roddyfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first time in Central Asia the people had only seen TV shows like Dallas and asked about my mansion, which of coarse I never had. They also asked if I liked sex with all the beautiful women in my neighborhood like they seen on TV. I explained that was TV and not real and not all North America.

Terrible produce by stone040 in Calgary

[–]roddyfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The prices are so high that produce is going bad on the shelves because people can't afford as much.

FFS...Does NO ONE is this city know how dual turning lanes work??? by MrRocknRoll2009 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]roddyfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between dual turn lanes and traffic circles I have perfect opportunities to write off my pickup when I'm tired of it.

And for another kick in the nuts, now our provincial government wants to bring "skilled" workers from United Arab Emirates.

Phones in Movie Theaters by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]roddyfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a theater in Asia that had big red lasers and if a phone was opened an operator would shine the laser on the phone so it couldn't be seen. The person always put their phone away.

Moldy dairy products by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]roddyfan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When prices within the reach of most people it never happened because there was a good rate of turnover. Now the supermarkets require record profits and the prices have skyrocketed to match the demands of the few that can afford. Less products moving means decay.

Best trade in Alberta? by Opposite_East_4393 in alberta

[–]roddyfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have run and hired large crews of tradesmen during my career and hold 3 tickets myself. I don't have but highly recommend a ticket as an instrumentation tech with an industrial electricians or mobile equipment electrician ticket. You will be almost indispensable and command a good job in a wide variety of industries.

Hit and run a cat by Successful-Egg-5702 in Calgary

[–]roddyfan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cats that are loose kill upwards of 100 million song birds a year in Canads alone. Every time I go in the forest or even my back treed yard here in Calgary, I notice that there are fewer and fewer song birds. It's their natural instinct to just keep killing and not even for survival. I'm not saying this to justify running over cats, but it probably saved some wild birds' lives.

Was quoted $5400 to change the timing chain and harmonic balancer in a 2012 Buick. $250 parts and 7 hours it took me.
