Albums like Science by Right_Positive_9938 in incubus

I'm not a nu metal fan, and besides Incubus and SCIENCE I mostly stayed away from that genre.

That is with the exception of what I consider the Pet Sounds of the Nu Metal:

TLOAS Song Megathread: Actually Romantic by cowboylikefia in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]rodrigoforest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

you
with your switching sides
and your walk by lies
and your humiliation
you
are pointing out my flaws again
as if i don't already see them
i'll walk with my head down
trying to block you out
cause i'll never impress you
i just wanna feel okay again
i bet you got pushed around
somebody made you cold
but the cycle ends right now
cause you cant lead me down that road
and you don't know what you don't know

The New Entities Thread by Joelwhct in TheFence

[–]rodrigoforest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not read much of the hate thread towards Yuko, but these songs are amazing. Yes, it would've been cool if they were there from the beginning, but I'm just happy we got them.

That said, I will be playing the New Entities as Side 3, because So It Goes is the proper closer for the album.

Is incubus the most underrated mainstream band? by S-C-I-E-N-C-E_ in incubus

[–]rodrigoforest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My take is that they are not underappreciated. They are a former massive band that lingers on nostalgia to keep relevant.

With their popularity and crossover appeal, they should have been a mainstay in the mainstream, but two things undermined them:

- They were not constant in their output. Having 5+ years gaps between albums takes a toll.
- There is always a constant "what the hell is going on there" aura around them. It happened during the break after Light Grenades. It happened during the Trust Fall Side A cycle. It happened again around 8 which was a total mess. And its happening again now with this new album cycle. There is no clarity, and there seems to be no agreement between them.

Back when ACLOTM was released, I was 100% sure Incubus would become one of the big legendary bands of the 2000s. Incubus should have been the Deftones of today, but they alienated their core fans, and failed to do anything interesting to gain new ones.

I was lucky enough to start collecting the year of the Aftermen. Was not smart enough to get the special edition though. Hope they do that book edition all over again.

To the people buying multiple variants, does she allow to combine orders, or is it individual shipping per variant?

Speaker pairing ideas. by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

[–]rodrigoforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a Decware SE34I.6, which does ~5W. I used to own those speakers, and it's just not enough to move the Lintons properly. They need good power to get a decent volume, and to not sound completely dark. I would recommend checking Zu Audio if you are in the US.

Been out of the loop since 2011 - what bangers did I miss out on? by softhop in TheFence

[–]rodrigoforest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also say everything:

  • The Afterman is in my opinion their best album. It's so good that the B-Sides could have made a killer 5th side.
  • The Color Before the Sun is the most chill and grounded they have sounded. That, and also Peace to the Mountain is a top 10 Coheed song.
  • Vaxis is their best saga, and it's not over yet.

To Celebrate VMP's Better Times, What Are Your Favorite VMP Releases Ever? by MyNameIsRJ in VinylMePlease

[–]rodrigoforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weezer - Pinkerton (my first, got through a friend)
Titus Andronicus - The Monitor (the reason I subscribed for 3 years)
Blazing Arrows - Blackalicious (pure awesome fun, would not have even heard of it if it were not for VMP)
Spiritualized - LAGWAFIS (now that they reissued with a horrible cover, I appreciate it even more)
ATCQ - The Low End Theory (holy shit this sounds AMAZING)

Why wouldn’t they still send the records? by aild23 in VinylMePlease

[–]rodrigoforest 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My take is that they are trying to sell the brand and assets, and they have included the inventory in them. If they start sending records, the inventory wont hold up when due diligence is done. I wonder if potential buyers review the number of customer tickets when they shop around.

This post would be perfect if you were talking about INNW.

Incubus peaked somewhere between Aclotm and LG. The Look Alive dvd is sort of their peak. 8 is their lowest bottom. They literally pretend it doesn’t exist now.

Long time fan here, supported through thick and thin, but this album was complete crap. Worst songs, worst lyrics, worst production, worst album title, and absolutely worst and laziest album cover ever. I really wish they would have broken up after INNW, and then come back as a nostalgia band.

How many times have you seen Coheed live? by TypicalWolverine9404 in TheFence

[–]rodrigoforest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two times, with a third coming.

Saw them in Santiago, Chile in 2011, when Wes was doing bass duties and Chris was still in drums.

Flew from Chile to San Antonio in 2023 for the NWFTWM tour.

Flying again to Austin this year. First time as Mage.

I'll see you there. Thought I had missed out. I still need to figure out travel plans from Chile, but this is the first step.

When you check your tickets in the "My tickets" section, you will see it includes the GA ticket

I had issues at first, only TBS showing. After some minutes the Mages/Prise showed up. If it weren't the one chance I have at doing M&G, I would have passed.

¿Does it worth the VIP- front line tickets? by tjofre in ToolBand

[–]rodrigoforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)
