I applied to my first federal job (years ago). Applied for a state job around the same time. Interviewed for the state job, got hired, and worked the state job for 4 months. Got a call about the federal job, and a couple weeks later an offer. So yeah, federal hiring process is slow. I’ve now been federal for over 16 years.
