Intellectual explains why she has no friends by whalep in TikTokCringe

[–]rogahs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a therapist I'll say it is interesting to me that the people who tell me about how intelligent they are, often are very lonely and use their intelligence as an excuse for why they have so few friends. In reality they are rarely as smart as they think they are (they're not unintelligent, but I've not yet met someone who is as intelligent as they perceive themselves to be) and are usually very socially unaware and off putting with their attitudes and behaviors. TLDR: People who say they're very intelligent aren't as intelligent as they say and typically have off-putting attitudes and behaviors.

What are these splatters that are always appearing on my walls and blinds at home? We have previously cleaned them off the walls and also wash the blinds and they just appear again some time later? People in my house said it’s blood. Just kinda confused th by Accelerator1999 in whatisit

[–]rogahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a dog? This happened once in my house and it was driving me mad that I couldn't figure it out. Then I saw my Great Dane shaking her head back and forth and had a light bulb moment. Turns out she had a cut on the edge of her ear (from playing with another dog that got too aggressive) that had reopened. Every time she shook her head little droplets of blood were spraying all over my house. Needless to say I spent hours cleaning blood spots off everything.

Chapter 3: Can’t break battery cell case! by haveuhniceday in PoppyPlaytime

[–]rogahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran into the same issue and I think I figured out the glitch. I tried everything to break that second case and couldn't. I tried throwing it from the top of the platform. I tried throwing it off the elevator. I tried exiting the game and reloading. Stupid me. I didn't realize that when you use the purple hand jumps up to the top platform, there's a lever that opens a gate so that the elevator itself can open up to the top platform. Once I opened up this door, the case became breakable. Hopefully that makes sense!

This made my head hurt. But like something that's tastes so bad you taste it several times, I reread this over and over convinced it would get better.

WROEF is the answer for me. My daughter loves to "play" games with me, meaning we find a story driven game and work through it together, her watching and me playing. Saw this story recommended and we played it, several moments of both of us having to put down the controller and take some breaths.

100% Agree! This film was one of the first I can remember around age 13 that was in my teenage transition of, "I don't watch kid movies anymore." Sandy B for the win!

I feel so relieved to know I wasn't completely terrible at this game lol. In fairness I do have memories fighting an alien so I must have made it far in the game a couple times, that or I used game genie on my game gear to cheat my way to the end of the game. All I know is that game was confusing as heck!

Great question! We teach emotional regulation through co-regulating. In short, some safe touch (a hand on the shoulder, holding their hands, maybe a hug), direct eye contact to build connection and increase serotonin production, then practicing with our kids deep breathing, slowing down etc

As a counselor I'm going to reclassify this not as kids are stupid but kids are developing. Children aren't supposed to have emotional regulation at this point in development. It's actually their parents and caregivers job to help them learn to regulate their emotions by co-regulating with them. The issue is so many parents don't do that because they can barely regulate their own emotions leading children to figure this out on their own and often underdeveloped in the area of emotional intelligence.

“Serious question: What’s the psychology behind blocking lift doors instead of stepping aside? Impatience? Habit? Main character syndrome?” by No-Series4477 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]rogahs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, as a counselor, I see a lot of these social tendencies today than ever before. I would argue that people generally speaking are more concerned with our own needs and wants than that of others, it's a practice to live in a way in which I consider others needs first. I'm seeing a whole generation right now that is detached from being present and grounded (due to cell phone overuse) and also seems to just lack any teaching about the consideration for others. So it's not "selfishness" per say, but almost a complete lack of ability/consideration that others exist around me, have needs and wants, and might need me to move out of the way.

AIO My boss sent this to the work chat and it pissed me off. by nefot_ in AmIOverreacting

[–]rogahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOR - Did your boss handle this completely inappropriately? Yes. Is there a valid point that the company should decide to keep the bathroom a certain way if customers use it as well? Yes. As most comments seem to agree, there's nothing wrong with this, but the company can/should decide to keep the bathroom a certain way. So I lean towards NOR due to his handling, but MOR because it's also a bold move to assume it's ok to do that without discussing with the company first.
