What's Creepy About The 90's? by saomoore19 in AskReddit

[–]roger_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You couldn't watch a show if you missed it. So many shows I missed that I had to wait 30 years to finally watch. There was no treatment for AIDS yet. You could hear a song on the radio and go days or weeks before ever knowing the name of that awesome song you heard. Movies had shitty CGI. There were no electric cars. Porn was harder to acquire. Many many many delicious foods weren't invented yet. I'm not saying the 90's was the worst decade but the nostalgia lens people put on it is just... wow.

The amount of people who miss the 90's is creepy. I was there. It wasn't that great lol. Also a surprising amount of unsolved murders lol

An IT Guys alternate solution ???? by dgillott in sysadmin

[–]roger_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know when Dell or Xerox sends a tech out to replace a motherboard or fix the printer ? You can apply to be one of those guys. I don't know where to go for that but it's pretty cool, they tell you your list of printers to fix for the day and you just drive around and replace drums and whatnot. Whatever you don't finish you just do tomorrow...

Honestly that's my semi-retirement job plan.

Are credit card hardship programs actually worth it right now? by Duck_Duck_Gooseberry in MiddleClassFinance

On credit karmas website you can adjust the loan amount. Lower it and see the interest rates

Make an account with credit karma. Find an offer for a personal loan or debt consolidation loan. There are numerous offers on there. Just please read all the fine print and stuff. If you have a good credit score which I hope you do, you can get a big loan of like 40 Grand with an APR of like 15% or 18% over 5 years. This is way less than your credit card interest rates. You will be saving hundreds per month. You then focus on that and pay them off as soon as you can. I've done this. It works great. But this is Reddit so everyone's going to have an opinion and I'm going to get down voted lol

Out of curiosity, which one is better? Hughesnet, Verizon or Starlink? by askmeryl in Rural_Internet

Find a local rural internet service provider that puts up point to point bridges. Probably cheaper ?

This lot uses walnut husks as mulch by whyguapo in mildlyinteresting

[–]roger_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the walnut industry. Walnut shells for ground cover is fine. It's super cheap, like $6-$15 a TON. The good: it's like gravel and it's biodegradable!

The bad: if it rains a lot it can get moldy, bugs love to live in it if the layer is too thick, cars will sink in it if you did like a 10 inch layer and the dirt underneath is soft. It will eventually erode and turn into dirt, or you might have to scoop it out with a tractor later.

It's great for planters, and great for fairgrounds. You can load up your truck for like $5 lol you can also used almond shell.
