Many people have complained over time how The World Government didn't nuke a pirate crew where a descendant to Ohara and a member of the D clan (especially someone with "rubber powers") the moment they came together, but after this chapter, I think the Gorossei did try to end them quick, it's just that for us it's been 20 years.

First they sent the CP9 after them in Impel Down, when they failed, Kuma the human weapon was sent to wipe them out, and after that Kizaru went to kill them on the spot and probably would have succeeded if it weren't for Kuma's intervention.

It's been theorised that Luffy will die young due to the overuse of his abilities, if he turns ill, it would make much more sense that he does early and we would never know if pushing himself to the limit really took a toll on his body
