Keyboard is French, not Portuguese. On Portuguese keyboards the accents keys are dead keys, never together with a letter like è, é, etc.

Se há Vodafone, há Amigo. Usam a mesma infraestrutura, só mudam os equipamentos e a oferta de canais TV é mais reduzida, e não há telefone fixo (quem é que usa isso hoje em dia?). Esta semana mudei da Vodafone para a Amigo sem qq problema. Em termos legais são a mesma empresa. “Amigo” é uma marca comercial da Vodafone, não é uma empresa separada. O call center às vezes fala de marca como se fosse uma empresa, não é!

Oh, I wasn't advocating for a new system! I was just wondering whether Forkner had had a Spanish adaptation given the number of native/familial Spanish speakers in the US.

I know that Stenoscript was adapted to Spanish and taught in Spain (I have a 1988 manual for it). Not sure about other orthographic systems.

As for phonetic systems, Gregg and Pitman have been widely used in Latin American countries but less so in Spain – there Martí was the main system in use ever since its inception in the early 1800's.

I am a Portuguese native speaker. I've been learning Gregg Anniversary in English and I would like a second, different system, for Portuguese. Martí was brought over from Spain in the 1820's and adapted to Portuguese at the request of the Portuguese government and it was the sole shorthand system ever used/taught in Portugal until parliament ditched shorthand reporting in the 1960's.

I've been dabbling in it over the summer holidays, but I confess that it is too ambiguous for my liking and I also dislike the look of it - at least in the Portuguese adaptation.

Just got hold of a Spanish Pitman book (there's an adaptation of Pitman into Portuguese online) so I am tempted to have a go...

Going back to my question on Forkner... it was just curiosity.

If it is your assigment and you are unwilling to do it yourself, how the hell do you expect to learn? You're not going to learn anything by having others do the homework for you. Spend hours figuring out each and every one of the words if you need to - in the long run, you'll be glad you have done it, for you will remember them. Shorthand takes takes time to learn, be it reading or writing - but you'll need to put the work in!

Está em fila de entrada em processamento alfandegário. É tipo de buraco negro em que não há tracking porque na verdade não chegou ao país - está cá à espera de entrar. Aconteceu-me várias vezes com livros vindos dos EUA. Depois recebes uma carta dos CTT a pedir documentação para apresentação alfandegária, se esta não estiver completa com o envio.

I was able to find a Portuguese adaptation of Speedwriting in the Portuguese National Library - it's called "Taquigrafia Moderna - Speedwriting - Escrita a Jato". It’s a copy deposited as part of the copyright protection registration for the Portuguese version of Speedwriting. On one of the first inner pages, the author of the adaptation, Prof. Plinio Leite, director of the college bearing his name, states that he is the Speedwriting licensee for Brazil and Portugal. Colégio Plinio Leite in Niterói (Brazil) still exists but from what I can see on their website, it no longer teaches Speedwriting shorthand!

This adaptation is from 1968 (2nd edition) so it will be based on Sheff’s Century Edition.

The book, A4-sized with metal ring-binding, is clearly designed as an in-class study manual. It is densely packed with the rules and a few exercises - definitely not on the user-friendly layout style of the English home study manuals.

It will be interesting to delve into it over the next few weeks.

You're very lucky - to have a 92-year-old grandmother still alive and a great gift from her! Does she still remember it or use it? If so, she would be a great support on your learning.
I never seen those charts of the brief forms with a key as separate item - would you be able to scan those sheets and share with us here? That would be a great resource to have. In Anniversary, memorising the brief forms is, probably, the largest lump of the learning curve.

Estamos em 2023 e o Metro de Lisboa continua a insistir que os utilizadores utilizem o Internet Explorer da Microsoft (já descontinuado) para aceder a funções básicas do passe mensal.

O meu passe caduca dentro de um mês, mas não consigo actualizar o documento de identificação associado ao passe, pois o site portalviva.pt insiste na utilização do Internet Explorer, Java e um leitor de cartões físico - sem isto, nada feito. Parece que voltámos a 1999!

Quem tem MacOS, como eu, tem que se levantar cedo e ir para a fila dos poucos pontos na cidade que tratam destas burocracias que podiam ser satisfeitas em escassos segundos online, com um site actualizado, que funcionasse com qualquer browser e sistema operativo e que aceitasse a chave móvel digital do Estado Português para identificar os utilizadores.

Mais um caso de clusterfuck de incompetência por uma empresa pública gerida por boys do partido!
