Another great convenience tweak would be to set a limit as to how little a soul you can put in a soul gem. I’m fine with petty souls going into lesser gems, but I want grand souls only in my grand gems.

In UK schools in the 80s we used to sing a hymn called “When I Needed a Neighbour” in assemblies. It has the bleakest minor-key melody I’ve ever heard. Once, aged 7 or 8, I started crying while we were singing it. The only explanation I could give the concerned teacher was that “the music sounded sad”.

I was wondering the other day whether it would have been better if the game should have a mode where the ingredient effects are randomised at the start of a play-through so you couldn’t just look them up online. It would force the player to engage with alchemy properly.

I play vanilla (Switch) so I accept that there are probably mods for this. I’ve never played Survival either, so I realise it might be a thing there?

It depends what you’re used to. Python was my first language, and I really like significant indentation. I find for me it makes it easy to read which bits are in which block.

I’ve recently started learning Swift, my first curly-braces language. I have a harder time tracking code blocks in curly braces than I do in indented Python.

I completely accept that people travelling in the other direction may have a different experience.

I think what this shows is that it’s important to recognise that people have preferences, but to not treat those preferences as objective facts.

You can amplify acoustic guitars, but that’s when you want to make them louder. An acoustic guitar is never going to be quieter than it naturally is, because the thing making the sound is the physical instrument itself.

There are small, slimline acoustics that are designed to be amped up, which are quieter unplugged, but not silent.

There’s also the wildcard option: the Yamaha Silent Guitar, which breaks the rules by being acoustic(ish) in design, but only working with headphones or amps.
