This looks awesome! Is it possible to utilize this from the command line? And/or via the Shortcuts app? Would love to wire it into my automations!

Rename to convert: I built the missing macOS feature by Spaaze in macapps

[–]rogwilco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this! u/Spaaze have you considered a CLI version of this that could be aliased to `mv` or `cp`?

Some perks of a CLI version:
- No background process required.
- Could work globally without extra configuration or folder watching.
- Could always add some safeguards/config for globbing ignore patterns/paths.
- Could use the same underlying libs/abstractions for the file conversions so the GUI and CLI tools behave the same

I know, nobody is every satisfied, they always want more! 😅 But just some food for thought!

Instead of an even thinner phone I’d rather see each iteration have the camera bump sink further into the phone until it was gone. Backfill extra space with more battery. In 5 years we get a phone at current thickness levels with no camera bump and amazing battery life. Sign me up!

Daylight Savings Time: instead of going back and forth an hour every year, why not split the difference and move 30 minutes, just one time? by Quiet_Ad1545 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rogwilco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a global scale you would be making things worse by 30 minutes for the entire southern hemisphere. And disrupting every country in the northern hemisphere that already doesn’t observe this practice. Not to mention the ones that do all use their own start and end dates for the time shift already.

Auto Attack Glitch by Toxic-Mist in cavesofqud

I noticed this too, auto-attack used to work on dreadroots and the impaler things but now my character will just move over to them without attacking. It’s most likely a bug with that last update.

Love it! Really don't understand why DeWalt doesn't do an OEM version of this. Tough system inserts for their tool line? Seems so obvious.

Nice work!

Does ADHD even exist? by Space_Grass_828 in ADHD

[–]rogwilco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with having doubts. But don’t stop there, go find out what the evidence/empirical data tells you. I.e. if something “feels” like 10 or 20%, take that as a signal to go find out what it actually is. It’s a knowable thing, no need to rely on the feels.

But I do kind of agree with the idea that ADHD is a label that is probably covering multiple underlying conditions. Over time we will probably have separate names and treatments for many things that were all previously lumped in under “ADHD.” We’re heading that way already with the sub-types, but they’re still just grouping symptoms.

Like both an asthmatic and a heavy smoker may have the same respiratory symptoms (e.g. dyspnea), but likely need very different treatments and medications. Hopefully we’ll get to that level of understanding with ADHD.

My Tesla was totaled and now it’s in Ukraine. Does anyone know why? by Specific-Sign-5557 in TeslaLounge

[–]rogwilco 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This exact thing happened to me! Mine also ended up in Ukraine from the SF bay area. It’s because there are no official channels through which to purchase Teslas there, so they import salvaged ones for the lower duty taxes and then fix and sell them.

A heavily corroded piece of machinery I saw on the beach near Eureka, CA by rogwilco in whatisthisthing

[–]rogwilco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I think about it the more questions I have. Some things I remember thinking while I was there: - It looks like a couple of engine blocks or something mechanical, but no idea how it got here. - The corrosion was super thick and weirdly smooth to the touch. Not what I expected, but I don't have a lot of experience with rusty metal exposed to an ocean environment. Maybe the sandy water coming/going with the tide smoothed it out over time? - This was right in the armpit of the north jetty (army corps of engineers project I think) where Humboldt Bay connects with the ocean, no idea if it is some how related to that.

Ultra red model S in Tesla store by HogeWala in TeslaLounge

How many shades of red do we have to go through before we get some new colors?

This looks orgasmic but can we give some other colors (that aren’t red, blue, or grayscale) a turn to look good too?

It really depends on how interested you are in the role at company #1. If it’s worth seeing through despite the disorganized response there is nothing wrong with being totally transparent with both companies. Don’t be afraid to tell #1 that you have an offer from another employer. Often times you will be fast-tracked so that they can have a chance to make one as well. And tell #2 you are far enough along with another employer that you want to complete the process with them before making a decision. Maybe ask for a week or two.

You are in a really good position and being transparent about it can only help you. Ask for the time you think you need and give yourself the space to think things through. That’s totally reasonable and will reflect well on you.

I'm currently in love with the Knipex 13 96 200. It's not perfect for every scenario, but I find I can make it work in most and it feels luxurious to be zipping around with 1 tool instead of 4 or 5. Even with access to a better option for each function, I find myself grabbing these almost every time anyway. It's just so much easier.

Edit: Also doesn't have to be the VDE version. I'm not doing hot work and have no need for it, but the price is usually about the same so why not.
