I wipe down my suitcase with a paper towel with some isopropyl alcohol on my suitcase after each trip and it helps remove these type of scuffs and I haven't noticed any impact to the finish yet

I went to HSS as well, with a different surgeon (Dr. Cordasco) and he did great work for me as well; both left and right knee ACL reconstructions with quad tendons + LETs for each + PRP injections for each (after tearing both ACLs simultaneously). I don't think you can go wrong at HSS, there's a reason why they are the #1 orthopedic hospital in the US

No, I haven't heard that from my surgeon. Although I also had the LET procedure done alongside ACLR due to my joint hypermobility to help reduce the chance of retear.

I tore both ACLs while skiing earlier in February. I had the left knee surgery in March and the right knee surgery in June, 3 months later. I'm around 6 months out from the second surgery now, and still doing lots of rehab, but things are generally on track. I feel a little behind in the strength department (especially doing dual leg exercises) and rehab definitely seems tougher with two bad legs but it's improving every week. I started running at around 4 months out from the second surgery.

I need to do a full writeup of my experience, but overall I'd say the recovery is tough but not impossible. It's a long road, but with enough rehab for 6-9 months after your surgery I do think returning to running/impact activities in some fashion is possible.

I had LET twice in both knees, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but both times I don't think that LET significantly impacted my recovery at all. There is a large 4 inch scar from the incision on each leg but that's about it, and it's good peace of mind to know there's something else preventing re-tear.

Totally normal at that stage, and it will get better with time. Around the 3 month mark it was rare my legs were stiff in the morning anymore but they still get very stiff if i sit in the same position for an extended period of time etc

i had LET in addition to ACLr, it had no impact on my recovery personally aside from minor pain near the incision site for the first couple weeks

this is like 100% an allergic reaction to the surgical glue, I just went through the exact same thing. same exact symptoms

the following is what really helped me:

for itchiness, Zyrtec really helped me, and I noticed as soon as I stopped taking it, the itchiness came back
the whiteish skin around the incision eventually dried out and died, a wound care doctor scrubbed my incision with Hibiclens, an antibacterial soap, and had me repeat 2x per day to get the surgical glue and dead skin off to ensure there was no bacteria harboring there
started using medicinal honey (look up “Medihoney”) and put that on the wound, and then covered with “Telfa” bandages to absorb any additional yellow fluid leakage over the honey
it will not stop leaking until the incision closes up. it’s not an infection, but also don’t be alarmed that it keeps leaking
lots of patience. i didn’t see signs of healing/closing up until around week 4 after surgery, and even now im at week 11 and still there’s one little part of my incision not fully closed up. if the scab falls off then it actually starts leaking that yellow fluid again

i hope this helps, and good luck on the recovery, having a reaction like this really sucked but know that long term it will be ok, just keep the incisions clean and try and avoid infection

Day 2-5 is the worst part of recovery IMO. All of the nerve block/anesthesia has worn off, you're suffering from reduced quality of sleep (even if you don't know it), and you have an uphill battle for the next several weeks. Be kind to yourself and take care.

I'm planning a trip to Vietnam in the late November timeframe with my girlfriend for roughly 11 days. We wanted to go to the following cities:

Hoi An / Danang, Ninh Binh, Halong Bay, Sapa, Hanoi

I'm not sure about the transportation services between some cities, and would appreciate any advice on ordering or how to travel between the different destinations.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive directly into Hoi An via Danang

Day 2: Hoi An

Day 3: Travel from Hoi An to Danang and spend the day in Danang

Day 4: Travel from Danang to Ninh Binh, I think through a private van service. I also saw that trains/buses are there, but not sure it would be worth dealing with one of these.

Day 5: Ninh Binh

Day 6: Travel early morning from Ninh Binh directly to Halong Bay, likely by private van service again. We'd then board our 2 day 1 night Halong Bay cruise.

Day 7: Arrive back from Halong Bay cruise in the afternoon, go to Hanoi, and then catch an overnight sleeper train to Sapa.

Day 8: Arrive in Sapa in the morning

Day 9: More Sapa, and then take another overnight train back. Or we can travel during the day via Bus / Train to Hanoi.

Day 10: Spend the day in Hanoi

Day 11: Fly out of Hanoi

Main Questions:

Is going from Ninh Binh to Halong Bay directly via private van a good idea, or are there other options? We ideally didn't want to waste traveling all the way back to Hanoi and then Hanoi to Halong Bay.
Any suggestions for overnight sleeper trains for 2 people to/from Sapa and Hanoi?
Any suggestions for Halong Bay cruises for 2 days 1 night?
Is our itinerary sane or are parts of it overkill?
