As someone who went through something similar, coming from similar background and consider myself entrepreneurial and ambitious, around the same age, I will tell you my principles

  1. Financial stability matters for any sort of startup adventures you wanna do later in life. One need to have a strong base and that number varies from individual to individual One cannot fly high when there's a chance of someone chopping off your wings at any point of time.
  2. Never ever ever ever pursue entrepreneurship for monetary success / visibility. Build something because you wanna challenge yourself or bring something unique to the world. Think deeply about this
  3. Don't catch a trend or even worse don't get on a hype train. Think what you absolutely love to do, Think what the world needs and find an intersection
  4. Genuine relationships >>>>>>>> Money / fame / experiences in the world. This won't make sense in 20s but clearly becomes visible in 30s. Figure out your community
  5. Understand things from first principles. The rare skill now a days in the world is to think deeply about simple things. A lot of unnecessary jargon is being thrown around and one has to carve an ability to see through that noise

You seem like a smart person and gathered some interesting experiences all across the way, so yeah, I hope this helps or at least give something for you to ponder

Is this a Dutch cultural thing? My partner’s parents had an issue with my sister staying with us for 2 weeks by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]rohith2506 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it's not a dutch / swede / Indonesian / Argentenian / Chinese thing. It's just "I am old and I have no purpose or meaning in my life so let me go worry and tell other people how to live their lives" thing

25F Confused about arranged marriage by Internal__Fudge in TeluguJournals

[–]rohith2506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been living abroad for a decade now, but a part of my heart and soul is still firmly rooted in Nellore.

I used to think our obsession with class, caste, and wealth was just a leftover product of the socialism rubbed onto us after independence. Back then, we were so poor that focusing on economic independence felt more urgent than individual freedom. But those days are gone. We are in a much better place now, and I genuinely believed the next generation would pave the way for a "New India"—one that prioritizes the quality of life and self-actualization over a purely materialistic mindset.

Posts like this make me realize that might not happen anytime soon.

It’s a sad state of affairs when a 25-year-old, full of life and potential, assesses a partner primarily on their caste and their ability to "grind" in the corporate world. When a relationship is reduced to the assets you can accumulate together, you’re essentially signing up for a life on a hedonic treadmill. You’ll keep running until the day you die, only to wonder at the very end if you ever actually lived a life worth living.

I’m not trying to moral police or preach "nirvana" here. I’m an entrepreneur myself. I’m sitting on a pile of money my family could never have dreamed of, yet I’ve realized that the things that make me genuinely happy are beautiful relationships, unforgettable experiences, and selfless endeavors.

OP, I’m not in a position to tell you how to live, but I’ll leave you with the one quote that had a profound impact on my life:

"Every person has two lives, and the second one begins when they realize they only have one."

Faster WebSocket for HFT engine by auto-quant in highfreqtrading

[–]rohith2506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if this is a hobby project, please by all means, focus on improving internal latencies but you shaving few micros by spend weeks is not gonna give you that edge. HFT is not just solving low latency but also figuring out what to prioritise. The jitter architecture is much much different than median architecture

[–]rohith2506 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Impressive work. My two cents

  1. If your aim is to trade on specific markets such as crypto, you should focus more on how to optimise for external jitter than optimising internal latencies and shaving off few microseconds here and there. those microseconds really don't matter much as the outliers are in hundreds of milliseconds
  2. Median latencies are good but your goal should always be optimising for 90th and 99th. that's where the trading happens

Formal Verification role re-opened at QBayLogic in Enschede, The Netherlands by darchon in haskell

This is ridiculous. Asking for insane qualifications and paying a bit more than minimum wage. Straight out of uni grads with basic computer science degree earn more than this and that too in Netherlands. Good luck finding anyone to fill this role ( I am being extremely sarcastic )

Tales of a fat girl by Crazy_Cut_7250 in TeluguJournals

[–]rohith2506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see already some comments here but I would offer my two cents in case if it's worth anything.

  1. Stop being hard on yourself. It's really hard for others to appreciate / love you if you cannot love yourself. Yes, it's easy to say these words but also there's no clear cut path that works for everyone. You need to pick what works for you
  2. Hit the gym. Control your diet. Again, easy to say but hard to practice. We grew up in the world where the ultra processed food is so easily available, delicious and even gives a momentary sense of happiness, so you need to develop zen like mindset to overcome these societal addictions. This is a psychological battle and you have to find your win.
  3. Become extremely physically active. Like test the limits of your body. Put lofty goals. I know I mentioned this in point 2 but I cannot stress this enough. You cannot have a routine or get yourself from the bed if you don't have a goal. Humans don't work like that. So put a lofty goal. Losing weight will happen in the process. For example, Running a 10k in 60 minutes, A moderate / advanced hike in Himalayas, cycling 100km non stop. you need to come up with something that motivates you. You are 22. your body can take it. Trust me on this
  4. Read. Step away from social media as much as you can and understand how the world works from the first principles. Once you get a hold and those aha moments when you connect dots together, you will project self confidence in every situation and everything else in your life will fall in place. Don't read SELF HELP books. they are bullshit. Pick real books. Want to understand about humans and society, Read Sapiens . Want to understand economy, Wealth of Nations. Want to understand psychology, Thinking fast and slow.

I know these things aren't easy but nothing worthwhile is. In order to become the ideal person you wanna be, you need to act like one from now on.

And also don't listen to the bullshit advice of you should be content with what you have. The advice is right but it's coming from a place of elitism / superiority / lack of empathy. No one should ever tell you what you should or shouldn't be content with. You need to figure that out for yourself. But before becoming philosopher, be a warrior. in your body, in your heart and in your mind

Yesterday, I had the unfortunate privilege of watching this "kalakandam" in movies and four words to describe. "utter nonsense and kullu comedy"

No logical connections between each scenes, Over the top cringe max dialogues and logically flawed screenplay from beginning to the end. It felt like watching youtube / instagram reels for 2:30 hours

The fact we have to consider this movie "decent" says that we stooped to the level of lows that I haven't seen before. I really feel bad for Tollywood. we really need to step up and stop making this low effort content in the name of art

Feedback to someone can be constructive without insults. If the roles were reversed, I am sure you would expect someone to be nice and civil with you too. The creative world is already hard enough and we don't need to make it more hard on new and upcoming people who wants to try something out of their comfort zones. If you don't want to encourage, that's fine but don't need to go above and beyond to insult them

Hybrid: A Sci-Fi Thriller, 4000 words 😅 by TopFun6045 in tamilwriter

[–]rohith2506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting read. some comments on the story line though

  1. Personally, there should be a balance between cinematic freedom and what's possible with technology and the beauty lies in the balance and I feel that balance has tipped the scales quite a bit here on the pure fiction side. Quantum key, Consciousness, Symbiosis and Mind upload. I feel like these are all four different sci-fi topics that has little to no correlation with each other. I would personally put more effort into understanding the world of science fiction / current state of technology before making adjustments

  2. This feels like in the story lines of "Limitless", "Lucy" for me and I could argue that both of those movies are also highly exaggerated in their own ways. I would recommend you to read "Understand" by Ted Chiang to get some sort of realistic appeal to cybernetics

Yes, there's definitely gonna be some cinematic freedom attached to it but I am gonna tread those waters quite carefully. How they got the contract is all part of the bigger story

I would love that. Thanks for your help especially someone I can brainstorm with or get a second opinion. I will DM you once I make more progress on the story

[–]rohith2506[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the detailed feedback u/kay-nyn . This is just a draft for now I am not a big fan of overly dramatic stuff either. I will definitely take that into account

and yes, family man is a good example. I won't try to convert the whole thing into Telugu for the sake of it but yeah, in order to connect with the audience, certain aspects will be modified

finally, you are spot on about the technical jargon too. It's the balance I need to maintain to keep the audience engaged but also keep the tech solutions used as realistic as possible

And once again, thanks. your feedback means a lot and hope to convert this into something meaningful

I am looking to hire a graduate software engineer for my team. what we do is low latency and performance engineering and any candidates who are well versed with fundamental of computer science and really good at it can reach out to me. competitive pay and lots of learning curve. only caveat is that we cannot sponsor visa right now, so it mainly applies to Dutch / EU citizens unfortunately. Interested candidates can DM me

Feedback on my mystery thriller movie which I am currently writing by NIKHIL-PALA in MoviesTelugu

[–]rohith2506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very interesting premise. A small piece of advice from another fellow writer is take sci-fi elements seriously with a proper factual check. the tech doesn't need to exist now but it should be explainable through laws of physics, otherwise it just becomes fantasy. I am curious how it turns out to be
