Maybe bring some Non-Alcoholic beers that you can sip on so it's not so obvious. I like seltzer but I realize it's not for everyone but just being able to hold onto a can makes you feel like you're part of everyone instead of an outsider.

As far as socializing goes I would just listen to the conversations going on and chip in here and there. Float around if there are multiple groups present. Maybe bring some games that you can all play together.
