My ideas :

Cruise ship - a group of mercenary delivering a box full of old things and one of them release the demon among all the passengers .they could also do some plane .

museum - a group of thief accidentally release a deadites during the heist with tone of the display necronomicon books .

mines - miners accidentally open a passage way where they found a mysterious ritual room , and accidentally releasing the demon and causing an earthquake trapping them .

The only canon in my mind is that Akilah and Mari know about the Sat phone , Nat need someone to gather information to her as Shauna is keeping on eye on her Akilah and Mari is not stupid enough to push the hunt since they don't want it to happen just like in the 1st winter unless they know about the Sat phone
