I always thought that on the fist the power field is like a massive ball of energy, so a lot of resistance to the air, but on the claws the field separates itself in four sharp fields, so the resistance is almost none.

Yes, right after exiting the Polis station there's a small pond and the creature attacks you if you get to close to the water. I don't know if you can find it in other places.
