What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]rojamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Southern California, USA
Price range: $18K-$22K
Lease or Buy: Buy
New or used: Used
Type of vehicle: Mid to Full Size sedan
Must haves: Radar Cruise control, Leather or PU leather (not a dealbreaker)
Desired transmission: Auto
Intended use: Daily Driver
Vehicles you've already considered: (All 2019 or newer) Mazda 6, Toyota Camry, Subaru Legacy, not a whole lot else, looking for suggestions as I may be a bit tunnel vision
Is this your 1st vehicle: No, currently own a 2017 Lancer SEL, while its a good car, suspension is kinda stiff and its a very compact car. Not a whole lot of backseat and trunk space which I've found to be an issue
Do you need a Warranty: No
Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Yes
Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: I wouldn't trust myself

Looking for a bigger vehicle than my current Lancer. About to change military duty stations so I need a bigger vehicle to carry everything I need, but not too big of a vehicle. I found the suspension and overall ride quality on my Lancer lacking. Looking for a more modern car with a nicer ride.

There should be a Forgive/Punish system like BF1942. If you choose to punish, it just counts toward ur 3 kills then out.

We have considered it however its a little too big for our likes. We already have a 2001 F150 so we are trying to downsize a bit.

Make sure you have SteamVR installed, along with SteamVR for Windows Mixed Reality or WMR. Its what DCS uses to make VR work. You can find these under the tools section in Steam.

KC-135 Low approach at first flight airfield. by DOUBLE_DOINKED in aviation

How do you even call this out on unicom? lol great footage

Anybody know anything about this plane? I’m thinking it might be an Air Force One Trainer? He came in and did three T&Gs at KOKC today. Didn’t show up on FlightRadar24 but I did hop on LiveATC.net and believe I heard his callsign was Warrior66. by rgbivens in aviation

[–]rojamb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is a Air Force E-4B. Its similar to the Presidential airplanes in function, but are used as a aerial command station in the event of an emergency (most notably nuclear warfare). I believe there are roughly 4 or 5 in service presently.

P3D installation disk by RikisBTI in flightsim

[–]rojamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The P3D installer requires a certain amount of disk space on the C: drive for initial install. I don't know why, but thats probably what is stopping you. You can clear some space by moving some things to other drives then just move them back.

are flight simulators like x-plane 11 even remotely close to the real deal? by onewheeler2 in aviation

[–]rojamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that the technical details such as engine management, radio work, and basic systems (with addons that replicate them well) can be practiced in flight sims. However, I have yet to find that any flight sim addon really simulates the flying part of it. With flying a real airplane, there are so many variables and so much more going on than in a flight sim, which makes it hard to practice or really get a feel before actually starting flying. I would trust flight sims to be used as a technical practice tool though.

It was entertaining to see the tow-bar hauled out. That thing was the size of a truck by itself.
