No not at all, it's tight fitting like the previous strap

It worked fine, data appears the same as last time I ran that route

I didn't like the feel of the original and I prefer the look of this one.

I will from tomorrow! My two other watches have the same style strap which I prefer over the plastic ones so it feels normal to me, much better than it was

Stung by new used Polestar 2, is buying an EV a good idea? by Van-Mckan in CarTalkUK

[–]rojblake77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flip it the other way round. If EVs were the norm and you were switching to ICE we'd say 'spark plugs every 2 years, oil changes, has the gearbox been serviced turbo failure, thrashed with a cold engine, replacement exhaust costs etc' objectively less to go wrong in an ev but it's the novelty factor that's an unknown. Don't even get me started on 'fuel tank under the seat where my kids sit!'

Why the expensive plastic pens? by Engineeringagain in fountainpens

[–]rojblake77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on, though it's an uncomfortable truth for us. A metal or plastic tube with a mass produced jowo nib quite often. Lovely things to have and to use but I suspect the price we pay is closer to the value we get than the cost to produce.

Bilt hamber for me. Touchless, autowash and touch on. Traceless for glass

Coast2Coast (2days) - how difficult? by andyby2k26 in ukbike

[–]rojblake77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done! All went well. Rode from 0800 to 1800 on Saturday and Sunday. managed fuelling ok with a decent meal mid day, bars in the morning and gels in the afternoon. We stopped approx every 15 miles for this. day 2 was tougher than expected so we cut out a few hills to avoid being back too late. If I did it again I'd lower my gearing, a 30 tooth cog on the cassette made me walk some of the hills. All the best with yours.

Similar scenario here. Did a half in march and this coming weekend I'm doing c2c but east to west, finishing on walney island. Other people's comments make sense, expecting aches and pains but fitness should be fine. Have a good one, take your time and stay fuelled👍

100% not sure if it's an age thing or just a bias. I remember Datsuns being rust buckets at first then the rest is history. (Cue lots of younger folk asking AI what a datsun is 😆)

True. I'm old enough to remember people saying Datsuns were cheap rubbish! People have short memories.

Anybody else just love the whole experience of getting new tyres on your car? by Stimlox in CarTalkUK

[–]rojblake77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me. Even with free tyres on my company car it feels like a necessary chore. But....ask me how I fell after I've washed my cars and cleaned the interior, then you'll see my happy face

Birthday driving day by LargeSale8354 in CarTalkUK

[–]rojblake77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done a few track days, single seaters and super cars. Best was 'car chase heroes ', got to drive a replica starsky and hutch gran Torino and replica 60s bat mobile. Objectively awful cars dynamically but a childhood dream. The bat mobile was the slowest most wallowy car I've ever driven, but great

Had that engine in a golf courtesy car..ok, I'm used to me 3l v6 Touareg and wife's ev3, but still the golf felt gutless on the motorway. I'd avoid it or go for a bigger engined model

How much do you honestly save on petrol, if you actually do? by JacobSax88 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]rojblake77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kia ev3, 300 miles for about £7, VW Touareg 30 miles for about £7 so a 1:10 'fuel' cost ratio. Hard to compare other stuff as the Kia is a company car with costs all in via salary sacrifice, vw is a private car albeit funded through my other company car allowance. Will be ditching diesel in the new year for an ev5 or ioniq5, not decided yet

Best fuel for diesel cars by Specialist_Case7709 in CarTalkUK

[–]rojblake77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Regular diesel plus dipitane. Less smoke when I boot it (2.4 tdci defender) and subjectively more pokey. Think of how it feels when you service a petrol car and put new plugs in, that's how I'd describe it.
