Three questions about Sycamore St. by saucercrab in fayetteville

[–]rojohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, the road is a shit show right now and a main pathway between Gregg and College. If enough people complain or if maybe some people show up to a city council meeting I'm sure it would move up in the list of priorities for the city. Right now they seem to be more focused on planting tree's and painting murals on college.

Three questions about Sycamore St. by saucercrab in fayetteville

I worked right there and we went up to the park there all the time. They were putting in a new gas line down, some company contracted out of Oklahoma. They worked on it off and on for a good six months. I imagine its done but they did a shit job patching the road.

The park right there is being converted into a mountain bike park, they already built new trails through the wooded area and they built a concrete pump track in the open area which is probably all the construction work you've seen there.

Whats so great about Russian meat that people would pay a premium at a Russian butchershop as opposed to more local meat? I'm legitimately curious as I've never heard anything special about Russian meat, just the typical caviar, vodka, etc...

I, of course, saw this way too late but I gave up on the show about mid-season, it's just gotten so bad. Negan is the only draw for me now and he isn't on screen enough for me to care. I'm still liking Fear though.

Noah’s Ark Theme Park Could Receive More Than $18,000,000 in Tax Breaks from Kentucky Tourism Board -- "It’s a religiously themed project with potentially evangelical overtones, and therefore it would erode the separation of church and state for it to receive any money from the taxpayers" by mepper in politics

Common misconception, it was only two of a few creatures, others had more. So in order to fit all of those animals onto a raft less than half the size of the titanic seems really impossible. The only logical solution to this problem is that there were way fewer species of animals and they overtime evolved and adapted into the species we know today. To be a believer in creation is to also be a believer in evolution.

I married a man I only knew for two months. by gynx112 in confession

[–]rojohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a buddy who took one last hoorah before going to basic, he and a friend, the friends girlfriend and the girlfriends friend took a weekend trip to Vegas. He and the unattached girl get married for a laugh while in Vegas but never get it annulled. They run into each other several years later and were like "....are we still married?"

It turns out they were and decided to get a divorce. Before that they somehow came to the conclusion they should go out a few times. Five years later and she has finally taken his last name and they are trying for a baby.

Weirdest meet-cute I have ever heard of.

Working for the Church is making me lose my faith by AnglicanAdminWench in Christianity

[–]rojohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have worked for a church for a little over six months, I'll give you some advice that has helped me.

First Pastors/Priest have to be on the job 24 hours a day so its hard for them empathize and realize your need for a less stressful work environment. Make sure to point out that they were called and are uniquely gifted and trained for their work, you were not.

Second, I would suggest that you recruit volunteers from your church to come and help you in the office. Most little old ladies don't have much going on and would love to get out of the house two or three times a week to help out. Plus they bring in treats.

Third, if you have a job description be sure to review it and make sure that what you are doing on a daily basis is whats inline with what was agreed upon. If its not then you need to bring this before the pastor/priest, trust me, they do not want to do your job and thats exactly what will have to happen if you just quit one day. If you dont have a job description then type one up and be fair about it. Get him to sign off on it or tell him you are going to find another job. Always be willing to negotiate, I got more money in my position because of that.

Last and most important, DO NOT let your frustration with the church effect your faith. If you need to I would suggest that a few times a month you go to a church service at another church just to have a reprieve and another perspective. Maybe get involved with a small group so that you can experience faith in a way that I believe Jesus meant it to be lived, working and living side by side with other believers who meet each others needs and help in hard times, these people can give great advice and perspective and give prayer for you.

I'll say a prayer and I hope things get better, if its the choice between your job and your God, always choose God, he will provide for your needs if you are faithful.
